They had at least a 3yr time jump in the middle of season 2. Plus Uhtreds kids are older than 8yrs difference than season 2. He's closer to 30-35.

2022-11-05 21:41:17 +0000 UTCSkade is a character I love to hate. I like that we get a female villain and I like how much power she seems to have over the Danes. She is so evil and its so maddening.

2022-11-05 08:53:26 +0000 UTCI hated Skade from the get go. She is straight up evil; I will say try to be patient with her story line as far as Uhtred is concerned. Just see how it plays out. I can't wait to see you guys react to the rest of the season!

2022-11-04 03:45:21 +0000 UTCI love and hate season 3 for many reasons. It’s one of my favorite seasons of this show. Nikki pretty much everyone hates skade you are not alone. I am so happy you guys like this show it’s one of my all time favorites

2022-11-04 01:34:55 +0000 UTCUhtred here is mid thirties, if we believe that Edward is 16-17 years old. Also hated Skade, the minute she appeared. I mean... the actress does do a good job, but the character is among my least favorite in the show.

2022-11-03 09:33:50 +0000 UTCNetflix started producing the show Season 3 that’s why you notice the production is bigger. It was originally produced by the BBC the 1st two seasons

2022-11-03 05:39:04 +0000 UTCUhtred's age; for Steven I feel is close. I took season one with this actor to be 16, then my wife and I determined an 8-year time jump overall, somehow ( lol ) so I put Uthred around mid to late 20's here in this episode. Love the show, love hanging with you peeps. keep this train rolling. peace-out

2022-11-03 05:08:35 +0000 UTCI thought Skade as a character was an interesting addition to the show but something about the actress threw me off. She's obviously attractive and absolutely looks the part but she doesn't quite sell it. I feel like she mostly comes across as a petulant teenager rather than an actual sinister pagan witch. Despite that though this season is still brilliant and I'm excited to hear your thoughts on it

2022-11-03 03:55:40 +0000 UTCI'm so glad you guys are watching TLK! I'm doing a rewatch along with you as I haven't watched s5 yet. Love this show.I'm with Nikki, hated Skade from moment one. Squicks me out. (also w/you on Schitt's Creek. Awesome show!)

2022-11-03 03:07:04 +0000 UTCDefinitely not a fan of Skade. I remember willing Uhtred to stay away from her when I first watched it. Still upset about Gisela's death, I loved the relationship between her and Uhtred. This season put me through the emotional wringer, but I'm so excited to rewatch it. Several of my all-time favourite moments happen in this season!

2022-11-03 02:48:40 +0000 UTCSteven, That was one of the most animated and almost emotional I’ve seen you in a bit! Fun! I’m gonna try and do a clip of one of them that you guys asked people to do. I thought I almost as you were gonna be teary-eyed when Uhtred came up to find his wife gone :( And yeah they got a bigger budget for the season!!

2022-11-03 02:34:59 +0000 UTCNikki, TBH I felt Skade was a rare misstep. I love the concept, just not the casting. She came off a bit CW vampire diaries, not the gravitational hypnotism they wanted me to. I have semi accepted on rewatch. In an otherwise flawless show, this was iffy. But I was excited to see what the story went with this whole idea of magic.

2022-11-03 02:32:26 +0000 UTCI have such a love-hate relationship with this season in the best possible way. All I'll say is prepare yourself for an emotional roller coaster. Oh and listen out for Finans one liners, he has some great ones this season ❤️

2022-11-03 01:54:06 +0000 UTCHated Skade from the moment she was introduced! Also, I don’t think Uhtred’s first wife was a good match for him. Loved him with Gisela.

2022-11-03 01:53:16 +0000 UTCAlso, have no fear. Uhtred is not the same horn dog he was in seasons 1 and 2.
Chandra
2022-11-03 01:28:41 +0000 UTCYeah he must have been with Gisela at least about 7 years

2022-11-03 01:10:29 +0000 UTCNikki - I LOVE Schitt's Creek! I feel you :)

2022-11-03 01:08:46 +0000 UTCLove you guys watching this show, so good to see other people love it!! ❤️ Completely agree I hate Skade! And just in Uhtred's defence, he has only been married twice, to Mildred the Christian, and to Gisela, but the other "witch" in between was Isolde... Just keeping you up on the women count 😅. Oh and just massive love to Æthelflæd lady of Mercia!! Badass

2022-11-03 01:07:03 +0000 UTCOne of my favorite seasons. Y’all have been introduced to my (almost) least favorite and most frustrating character, Skade. I’m always counting down the episodes until she’s gone. My least favorite becomes someone who’s been around since the first season. And it’s not Aelswith.

2022-11-03 00:55:57 +0000 UTCI think Uhtred was about 18 in S1, IIRC he said he lived with the Danes for 9 years. Prince Edward was a newborn in S1 & is now 16-17 I'd guess. This tracks with Aethelflaed who was 5-6 in S1, married as a teen in S2, and now 22-23ish with a young daughter. Osferth & Aethelflaed are close in age as Alfred was still with his mistress Leofric's sister early in S1 when he was newly married. Based on King Alfred's children in S3 I'd say Uhtred is between 33-36

2022-11-02 23:14:46 +0000 UTCThis is the best season for me and I'm so excited to watch it again with you guys.

2022-11-02 20:16:06 +0000 UTCThis season will have you on the edge of your seat. But have faith in Uhtred! I estimate him being around 30 years of age.

2022-11-02 19:51:05 +0000 UTCForgot how good this episode was, great reaction :). I hope y’all do maybe a podcast or Q and A about this show, like you did with House of the Dragon that would be cool. Give me all the TLK content haha!

2022-11-02 19:34:56 +0000 UTCI personally couldn't stand Skade. With Ethelfled in history she is one of Mercias best and most loved rulers. All the battles that are depict in the series are real battles in history. Here's a nice tidbit. The actress who plays the Queen is actually younger in real life than the actress who plays her daughter. I want to say Uhtred is in his mid to late 30s in this season.

2022-11-02 19:07:44 +0000 UTCI loved Skade lol

2022-11-02 19:07:02 +0000 UTCConsidering that Edward was a baby in season 1, and he is now like 15 or 16, I'm guessing, Uhtred is also that much older. He has definitely grown and matured and has been with the lady Gisela for most of those years now.

2022-11-02 19:05:07 +0000 UTCI was the same way with Skade. I definitely did not like her, but I was wary of her power because of what we have seen in the past. She is definitely interesting, but I do not like her, even though she may be somewhat vulnerable now that Bloodhair ran off and she looked betrayed, I didn't want Uthred to fall for her the way Bloodhair apparently did.

2022-11-02 19:01:57 +0000 UTCYes Nikki you're not alone..I felt the same way as you about Skade i.e. hated her and shouting at the TV to leave Uhtred alone! Uhtred showed no real interest in her though & said he had 'no need for a wh**e'... she's very manipulative of course & he is wary of her power but he knows what she is...great reaction, thanks 👍

2022-11-02 18:45:13 +0000 UTCWith respect to Uhtred and the way he was with the ladies that was a much younger man. In season 1 he was with Brida then Mildrith and then Iseult but for the entire season 2 he was loving and loyal to Gisela and when opening season 3 that hasn't changed Uhtred is a much more mature and grown man and loved Gisela and was 100% loyal and is no longer just all about chasing women. This opinion that Uhtred can't control himself with women is a little unfair because with all his relationships again in season 1 when he was young there was a lot of nuance there and he was loyal even in season 1. Brida left Uhtred and Mildrith was an arranged marriage and she betrayed his trust first and then Iseult was killed.

2022-11-02 18:36:50 +0000 UTCThis season has some of the best episodes and can't wait for yall to see them all.

2022-11-02 18:08:24 +0000 UTCI felt the same way about Skade as I did about Iseult, more sorcery mumbo-jumbo that I don't care about unless it progresses the plot. If it's to be believed, Iseult saved Edward so that was her entire purpose. When Skade was introduced she just annoyed me.

2022-11-02 18:04:21 +0000 UTCYou are correct that the budget increased. The show was originally a BBC production and then Netflix kept it from ending and they upped the budget even though they never did much to promote it which is why many still don’t know about this show months after it ended. Still had 63 million hours watched for season 5 in the first week because it’s just that good! And when it comes to Skade, Uhtred would never have cheated on Gisela. He’s matured some even if he still is tempted (like he his with every woman). He wanted to see what she would do and has conflicting thoughts on curses. Absolutely fair to hate her as many do, we also love these violent characters and are curious what depravity they’ll do next even if we want them gone lol.
