2023-01-03 20:44:56 +0000 UTCI remember when this season first came out - it must have been about one month or so into the first lock down in 2020 and we all just thought "holy shit, they have a covid episode". Because there was so much speculation about how it's being transmitted, borders were closed, people (like Finan) showed a lot of anxiety in regards to contact or even going outside. Of course the whole thing was filmed 8 months prior, so no one had heard of covid back then. The sickness in this episode is not what became known as the Black Death which was a few hundred years later.

2023-01-03 20:24:19 +0000 UTCFinan would fight the devil himself and laugh in his face, but when Stiorra sneezed he nearly shit himself! 😶 Alfred had Beocca to guide him and was far more decisive than Edward who is still young with that weasel athelhelm poisoning his mind 🤔 That's why Alfred wanted Uhtred to guide his son because despite their differences he knew he would protect Edward from the self serving scumbags that surround him🥰 P.S. remember when Alfred made that Odda guy a lord and believed him over Uhtred. Being decisive doesn't mean that they're right, both are equally stubborn in their decision making.

2023-01-03 07:04:43 +0000 UTCAlfred also had Odda the Elder, who put Wessex above all. So already 3 great people giving him advice, and he was a very smart man himself. Unfortunately, Edward had a lot of time with Aethelhelm between seasons 3 and 4 (which is a couple of years) whispering non sense in his ears. You can imagine the unwillingness to help Uhtred in the first episode is Aethelhelm and even his mother whispering non sense about him. And him being very young and naive..That is the result. As Aelswith in the first seasons, I believe Edward wants to make the best decisions and be a fair ruler, unfortunately it's not going great at the moment. We should just have Aethelflaed rule Wessex and everything would be great. She is very much like her father.

2023-01-03 05:43:10 +0000 UTCThe threat of the sickness is real, but I find it kinda "funny?" that in all the skirmishes, battles & war Finnan has been gung-ho about so far, it's the sickness that has him rattled the most. Alfred had Beoca, and Utred. The former gave him sound advice on a godly POV, and the latter gave him sound advice on strategy. And, most importantly, he had his own brilliant mind. Edward has a POS whispering in his ear.
