2023-02-23 22:37:53 +0000 UTCthe same old shit...Uhtred getting no support seems to just be a lack of creativity with the screenwriters. They seem to instist on deviating more and more from the books in seasons 4 and 5 and revert to standard TV tropes. It's still great entertainment and I love the series as much as the books, but the Books do a much better job of Uhtred and his crew having their own household troops/warbands. Osferth is actually one of Aethelflaed's commanders and Sihtric commands Dunholm.

Sigtryggr screaming that his wife will not die trapped like a rat & that he’s conquered everything for her… WOW!!! 😍 I love the Uhtred & Sigtryggr team up, both of have smarts & strategic minds but I’m so enraged the alliance never protects them, always Wessex.

Uhtred has been His father and the boys his uncles! So emotional. Seeing Sygtriggyr’s hair cut. He is a modern leader who rules with tolerance of all people. Not the “old men” of before. And Brida is trying to bring it back. Wrenching! Breast cancer too is so hard to watch in Athelflead. 🥲🥲🥲

2023-01-25 03:48:43 +0000 UTCSo I understand everyone's side... including Edward's. Everyone was making the respectful choice for their own kingdoms. Edward was sending 300 men because he wanted to show aethelflead he was supporting her but didn't want to send an entire army in case it would make her feel like she couldn't handle it herself but wanted to show her and sygtrigger support that stems from their alliance. Aethelflaed didn't send her army because we saw that her kingdom is about to go into civil war again like they did last season. Uhtred feels betrayed rightfully but if he had known why she was doing it he would absolutely understand why she didn't send the support everyone else thought she would including edward. Aethelflaed also assumed they would be able to get support from the nearby Burroughs as did uhtred and sygtrigger... but because of the kings fuck in law sending word that king wants them to have no aid to try and start some kind of war to get the danes kingdom back it looks like wessex and mercia are abandoning the alliance. Everyone is just shit at communication. I fucking love the respect that uhtred and sygtrigger have for each other and the bond from them both caring about stiorra.
