(CMDL1-6) Retopology

Another step is done! I also UV Unwrapped the model after retopo so two steps are left behind.

Despite me saying that it would take a lot of time, it took a lot less. The reason for this is that I went with a lazy way of retopology. Instead of manually creating a new mesh, I used a sculpt mesh and decreased the "subdivision" level. That was possible because I've sculpted petals using "Multiresolution" modifier.

Sadly, for the flower base, I couldn't use the lazy way because I've used a different technique (Using remesh if you were curious). So I went with manual retopology as I had planned before. The results are... good? I would say great, for a part that 90% of the time will be hidden or removed from the scene.

Can't say much for small petals, they are just a subdivided cylinder in thick leaf form.

Now, what's next? I have 2 variants - Rigging or Texturing. I should do rigging first so if I change something in a mesh there are no problems with textures. But nope :) I'll do a texturing stage first.

While I was doing the retopo, I was thinking about how this model can repeat the situation with the Hoodwink redesign. Good in the beginning, somewhat average in the middle of the creation, and total crap in the end. I'll just hope this time model will end up looking good.

To-do list:
Create 5 petals (✓)
Create a flower base (✓)
Retopo (✓)
Create a rig (Prototype is ready)
Create a texture (-)
Polish (-)
