Houdini...

So, remember when I was talking about effects for A16, I mentioned Houdini and how it would be better if I made effects for it using this software? I am now thinking about adding a last nail into my workflow coffin with this tool.

I know you may not have heard about this software. Houdini is an insanely powerful tool for creating effects. 90% of the effects you see in films and cinematics are made using it.

I've spent a week fooling with it and I LOVE IT. It's so fun to learn it and just mess around with simulations. Simulations you see here are not the best I know, but consider that these were just test simulations where I was learning how Houdini works. And you should admit, the simulation in the first GIF is looking insanely good.

I'll be honest, it's an OVERKILL for my tasks, as I can do most of them using Blender. However, the way Houdini does these tasks is just something on another level.

What could be enhanced or added by it:

Why don't I use it now in my projects? It's paid, and very expensive for me. What you see here was made in the "free" version, sims from which cannot be exported. I'm currently gathering money for a license and looking for possible issues with integrating it into my workflow. There is one serious issue with it - I can't fully test it in my projects. This is bothering me because I don't want to end up in a situation where you bought something expensive and cannot use it because of something you didn't know.

And considering how long it was from the previous post, I'll share some info here. CA10 is in the last stage. Can't tell when I'll finish it, but it will take another week for sure. I'll try to finish it sooner, but you know how well I screw up with deadlines. There will be a few days of silence, sorry for that.

And heh, my workflow now looks like a studio workflow.
