I’m traveling this weekend to see my parents, and celebrate my grandmother’s 75th birthday. She is an absolute gem and a legend— I’ve never seen my grandmother have a bad day, say a bad thing about anything or anyone. She cooks like no one else, she hugs even better. She is the embodiment of love.
What an honor it will be to spend a whole day celebrating her life and existence, and to shower her with the love she’s spent her whole life giving us.
It makes my chest puff out with pride when I’m likened to her from time to time. People in the family say I’ve got a strong facial resemblance to her— her nose, her smile.
I’m looking so forward to this trip— and the best part is that she doesn’t know I’m gonna be there. I live so far away she won’t even have a thought in her mind that I would show up. Can’t wait to see her face when I walk in the door. :D
Oooh and second best part is my brother— my best mate— will be there. Haven’t seen him in a year or more. The shenanigans and crude jokes will be full on. Much joy ahead this weekend.
