Hey folks! James here with some quick Draw Steel updates for you!
First, I wanted to let you know that The Delian Tomb and Road to Broadhurst have been updated. If you got a copy of The Delian Tomb, look for an email from us with the update sent out this afternoon. It includes a changelog.
Road to Broadhurst is available free online here. The pregens have been updated to fix some errors as well.
You will also find that our character sheet has had some tweaks! You can always get the latest version of it here.
Most of the fixes in both were minor typos and some formatting tweaks.
By the way, if you find bugs in any official published Draw Steel products (not playtests), you can always tell us about those bugs here.
Leon is hard at work revising The Fall of Blackbottom based on your feedback. In fact, they had an update that they asked me to share with you all, in case you're running the playtest version of the adventure before the official one is published.
Hey everyone! Leon here. If you filled out the Patreon survey for Fall of Blackbottom, thank you so much. We’re hard at work making sure the adventure delivers on its promise of being challenging, exciting, and fun. However, there were a few places in the Patreon version released last month that crossed the line from challenging to impossible. Chapter 3’s “Escape Part 3” encounter in particular is literally impossible for most party compositions. Sorry about that!
Since the playtest adventure was released to patrons, the draft has seen tweaks for clarity and balance. But if your group is playing through Fall of Blackbottom right now and doesn’t want to wait for the final product, I don’t want to leave you high and dry! If you’re a Director, here are the adjustments I’d recommend for Chapter 3:
Swap Ground Commander Hunt and the Chorogaunt. This means put the Chorogaunt in Escape Part 2, and put Ground Commander Hunt in Escape Part 3 and all of the Climax encounters. Place the Chorogaunt at the top of the map in Escape Part 2.
The Encroaching Horde begins its movement in Round 2. Round 1 is a freebie. Starting round 2, they move one square to the right at the end of every turn.
Unless you are running Climax: The Sewers, do not involve the group of civilians in your Climax encounter. Oriole and the gang are hiding below the deck in Climax: The Revelation and Climax: Hawk Transport, and inside the carriage in Climax: Armored Carriage. If you’re in the Sewers, sorry, but you still have to escort your friends past all those slimes.
If the players achieved Interest 5 in their negotiation with Huon the Hawklord in Chapter 2, they get two more hawks on rescue duty during “Climax: Hawk Transport.”
If the players achieved Interest 5 in their negotiation with Bets of the Clock in Chapter 2, the armored carriage gets 20 more stamina.
Hopefully this will make the final act of your escape from Blackbottom a fairer and more memorable experience.
From the bottom of my little nerdy heart, I want to thank you all for your incredibly kind words about Draw Steel and all of your support and belief in the game. This last week was super duper special.
Keep on rolling!
