“Hey did you hear the hunters came back empty handed again?” A man said, as he looked to his coworker, as they worked a shift at the local grocery store.  

“Really? They’ve been hunting that bobcat for months now, and they still haven’t gotten it?”

“Yeah, and I heard that after it disappeared for those 3 months and came back, it’s been eating like 3 times more than before. I guess they’re talking about calling in the big guns soon” 

“Is it even a bobcat then? Cause I ain’t heard of no bobcat that eats like that”

Hearing his coworker, the man who started the conversation snorted and replied. 

“Yeah, maybe it’s a werewolf or some shit!” Hearing his coworkers' response, the second man sighed and quietly muttered a response. 

“Yeah…maybe”

[Far off, deep in the Forests of California]

CRUNCH CRACK

Sounds of crunches and cracking filled the normally quiet atmosphere, as a large figure ate away at what looked to be a Coyote. 

This “Figure” was in fact Kali, the reincarnator who had become a Nundu, a magical creature from mythology and Harry Potter. 

It had been around 7 months since Kali had been reincarnated into the body of a Nundu, and over these months she had been…enjoying her life. Days of munching away at all sorts of prey, traveling around California and had even traveled through Washington all the way to Alaska for a few months. 

During those months, she had consumed hundreds, if not thousands of creatures of all kinds, giving her a rather large array of new traits, which has led to her form being MUCH larger than normal.

The list of traits she had gotten, was something she just instinctually knew, and wasn’t in some sort of status or anything, as she had the power alone and that was it. Her poison and venom had grown to entirely new levels of power, thanks to her consuming quite a few poisonous creatures. Although certain species seemed to limit the amount that she could take, like how she could only take strength once for the beetles. 

She had also gotten the ability to grow her own pair of wings, that she can use to travel around faster than before. She had only used them a few times, mostly to get to Alaska and Washington, as even she knew that it would be rather…strange to see something of her size in the skies above cities. 

The more she consumed creatures, the more she got used to her new body, and the more she had grown to enjoy the hunt. It was…exilerating, and even though she was a human in her past life, she enjoyed it far too much to complain or whine about not being able to take a human form. 

A lot of these creatures were found in the wild, but she did take advantage of a few zoo’s that she had found, consuming certain creatures within, mostly the ones that were near death or easy to find, mostly so she wouldn’t get caught. The best of them were the three with regeneration that she had found in some fancy high tech bus thing. She was pretty sure it belonged to a science facility, but it had broken down, giving her an easy shot at munching on some unique creatures that had massively strengthened her regenerative capabilities. 

After 7 months of consuming, Kali was now stronger than just about any other animal on Earth, besides perhaps a killer whale, at least, in terms of pure strength. In terms of agility, she was the fastest, same with regeneration, durability, and a few other areas. But, she doubted this was a normal world, otherwise she wouldn’t have been reborn as a Nundu of all things. 

Ripping the final piece off of the coyote, Kali used her long tongue to lick her lips clean, as she walked off to the nearest stream of water. Gulping down the water, Kali stopped as she heard voices echo from afar. 

“You sure it’s an Alpha that’s hunting all the animals nearby?” A feminine voice echoed, as Kali leapt into the nearest tree that would be able to support her, watching as a group of 7 walked out of the trees. 

“What else could rip apart bears? There’s an Alpha in MY territory, and I’m going to find and rip them to shreds” A tall man said with a snarl, as his eyes glowed a soft blue color. 

“But boss you’re not-” “An Alpha? Yeah, I know. But once the rest of the group joins up, it’ll be 11 of us, more than enough to take out a single Alpha. And once we do, I can steal that spark of theirs and finally become an Alpha myself” The man cut off his female friend, as more people began to enter the area. 

“No sign of the Alpha, boss, besides the corpse of a Coyote nearby. Looks to have been eaten recently, so they can’t be far from here” Another tall man said, as three other men walked besides him. 

“Well let’s get hunting then!” The man said with a grin, excited to finally kill an alpha and become one himself. As one could only become an Alpha through killing one and stealing their “Alpha Spark” inheriting it, or a couple of other less…common ways. 

Kali, who watched them, inwardly grinned widely ‘Yes…lets get hunting’

“Why in the hell did the boss split us up?” the same man from earlier asked his shorter female companion. He was in a group of 5, with there being 3 men and 2 women with him, for a total of 6 people. 

“Probably so we could find it faster? Fuck if I know. All I know is I want to find this thing and then get the hell out of here, this place is creepy as shit” The woman he had asked replied, as they walked through the silent woods. Woods that were…too silent. 

“Yeah and quiet too…way too quiet” The man said as he turned around, only to go wide eyed. 

“Where the fuck is the rest!?” The man exclaimed as the woman turned, only to find that 4 of their companions were gone. 

“I-I think we need to find the rest of the group, something ain’t rig-” “ACHJK” A sharp choking sounded out from behind her as she turned, only to pale as where the man once stood, was now empty, as if he was never there. 

“Wh-I know you’re out there you bastard! Come on out!” The woman yelled, her eyes flashing a blue color, indicating that like her “Boss” she has killed an innocent. 

Turning, the woman couldn’t even utter a word as fierce eyes stared at her, as in the next moment, she felt everything begin to darken, and the darkness took over. 

“A-ah…f-fuck”

[With the other 5]

“Where the hell are the rest of the group? Tom was supposed to meet up with us 5 minutes ago!” The boss yelled as he looked around, the rest of the group shuffling nervously, as they were beginning to realize that they were getting picked off one by one. 

The rest of the group wasn’t able to respond as the sounds of leaves crackling and branches breaking sounded out, as slowly a figure began to walk out of the forest. 

“What the fuck is that!?” Another one of the “Boss’s” pack members exclaimed, as stepping out of the forest was Kali, teeth bared as a dark purple mist exuded from her mouth, traveling towards them. 

“Bo-bo-” One of the remaining members choked, the purple mist wasn’t mere “Mist” it was, in fact, Kali’s “Purple Breath” or “Black Breath” it was poison, very very very powerful poison. A singular inhalation would kill you in moments, and…well, the Werewolves in front of her had inhaled quite a lot of it. 

“Yo-You b-bastard” The “Boss” said, as blood began to pour from every part of his body, as the rest of his group collapsed to the ground, dead, with him following moments later, as Kali watched. 

‘...Weak’ Kali thought with a scowl, unimpressed with the weak Werewolves. 

‘...At least they’ll make for a good meal’ Kali thought, glancing at them. She wasn’t really one to eat humans, but in this case…it was needed. Werewolves were powerful, but more than that, they had the ability to transform. So, Kali believed that by consuming them, she’d get the ability to finally take a human form after 7 months. 

‘...Hopefully they taste good’

They…weirdly did taste decent, which was…a strange thing to think or say for a previous human. From these werewolves, she had gotten a rather interesting “Trait” from them, one that no other animal had.

Consuming them hadn’t just given her a singular trait, but their entire physiology, coming with all their powers, but it seemed to only allow her to do it up to ten times, which she suspected was due to their mystical nature, and perhaps because her body needs time to adapt before she can get more. 

And so, with the consumption of the werewolves done, Kali’s figure began to warp and change, as it slowly became…humanoid. As a tall, 6’0 incredibly beautiful teen stood there, a noticeable and impressive amount of muscle on her arms, legs, and abs. But the most noticeable thing of all, was her piercing Yellow eyes, as a deep breath escaped her lips, and she spoke out loud for the first time in 7 months.

“...I think I’ll like this new body of mine”

Wasn’t sure about the faceclaim, until I realized that Hailee Steinfeld is actually mixed, and is kinda perfect for Kali (Plus the name fits her), even if it’s a bit cliche lol. That and I haven't used her as a main character for a long time.
