Chapter 144 [Vault]

Title - Against the Gods: The Sign In System | Chapter 9

Time had passed since Jasmine had went to sleep within the Pearl, time that had been spent exclusively cultivating, and waiting for the moment that she could go to get the Fire seed, without getting flattened by the dragon that was there, a dragon that was far beyond her in terms of power at the moment. 

In terms of cultivation, she had managed to break through once in each “Area” breaking into 9th Level Nascent Profound, and 8th Level Nascent Profound in Demonic Energy. 

She had also been thoroughly training in her different techniques, killing profound beasts and saving their cores and other materials of note, gathering mass amounts of various types of herbs, and overall, just enjoying her life in the forest. 

Jasmine ended up waking 7 days later, instead of 3. But during that time, she hadn’t done much besides watch Fenghua train, getting a look at her techniques and overall power level. It was during her time watching her, that Jasmine realized that Fenghua, in mortal standards, was an absolute genius, to a scary degree. Rapidly growing her various techniques, evolving them to new levels, and mastering them to a high degree.  

Not to mention the fact that her total power output was well beyond what was normal for a Nascent Profound cultivator, being around 7th Level Spirit Profound in power. After around a month of constant training, and Jasmine quietly watching it all, she finally left the Sky Poison Pearl, causing Fenghua to look up from her food that she was eating. 

“Enough training, Fenghua! It’s time for you to get me new clothes! I need underwear, a dress, a hairband, and everything else!” Jasmine exclaimed, as Fenghua raised an eyebrow. 

“Alright, I can get you all of that. But do you really need it? You look plenty cute with what you’re wearing now, besides the lack of underwear” Fenghua replied, as Jasmine just glared at her, causing Fenghua to raise her hands in surrender. 

“Alright Alright, just let me eat before I have to leave. Also, I’ve had a question on my mind for a while now, that I can’t help but ask: Why here? Why Blue Pole Star? I mean, you’re some sort of higher being right? Why come here of all places?” Fenghua asked, as Jasmine stared her down, before replying. 

“I’m here because of the memories of the Blood of the Evil God. It mentions that there are five hidden places of the Evil God, one of which is around here in the Eastern Regions of the Blue Wind Empire. The memories also mentioned that this continent was created by the Evil God!” Jasmine replied, as Fenghua looked at her in surprise. 

She already knew all of this, but it was best to play along and act dumb. 

“In this continent, there are five places he resided at. Before he faded, he hid five “Seeds” one in each location. And it stated that only his successor will be able to find them! But don’t even think about finding them yet, they’re likely heavily fortified and guarded by all sorts of beasts. Once you reach a higher realm we can think about it” Jasmine said, as Fenghua nodded along, inwardly snorting at that, as she sure as hell wasn’t going to be listening to her in regards to that. 

“And when are you going to find me clothes?”

“Once we go to a big city like New Moon City, we’ll look. None of these small towns will have anything up to par for someone like you” Fenghua responded, as Jasmine smirked, about to reply, only to stop as she sensed something. 

“There are people approaching. Four of them are at Sky Profound, and the other is already…Halfway to Emperor Profound!” Jasmine exclaimed, as she looked up, Fenghua following her line of sight, a small smirk forming on her face. 

She had the two star herbs from the Xiao manor, which once she ate one, it would grant her invisibility from others, be it smell, sight, etc, so, she’d be able to get what she wanted from there. 

Returning everything to the Sky Poison Pearl, she took off in a burst of speed, following alongside them from below, as Jasmine flew beside her. 

“Why are you following them?” Jasmine asked, as Fenghua ran through the forest. 

“They’re likely going after a powerful Profound Beast, and if they need that many powerful cultivators, it’s one that could end the lives of all of them, meaning, if they end up killing each other, I’ll be able to get a lot out of it. And while I can’t do anything to them, I do have something that will allow me to” Fenghua said with a smirk, as she ran at rapid speeds. 

“How amusing. I’ll watch from the sidelines…and try not to die” Jasmine said, as Fenghua just chuckled as she continued to run at rapid speeds.

After running for a while, she eventually came upon the “Scarlet Dragon Prohibited Region” which was home to the Flame Dragon, the one that was unknowingly guarding the Fire Seed that she needed. It was also full of other materials and things of note. 

Pulling out the hidden star herb from her Sky Poison Pearl, she put it into her mouth and swallowed, as she went completely invisible. At the same time, she could feel an instinctual pull to a certain location, one where the Fire Herb was located, the cave of the Flame Dragon. 

Moving towards the cave, she sat in the back, watching as the “Half Step” Emperor, rubble flying as a deep booming roar of the Flame Dragon echoed throughout the area, with Fenghua feeling it’s overbearing aura as it flew out of it’s cave, enraged. 

Fenghua watched as they began to battle it out, miles away, as she could feel the heat even from how far away she was from the battle. 

“Hm, you better do this quickly, Fenghua, that Dragon is in the Emperor Realm. And dragons are far more intelligent than most mortals give them credit for, just as much, if not more than most humans” Jasmine replied, as Fenghua nodded in understanding, taking off in a burst of speed towards the dragon's den, where the seed was, and other treasures. 

Running into the den, dodging the stray blasts, she noticed hundreds of fire herbs, rare herbs that only grew after 10 years, and provided the user with fire element power. The herbs are incredibly expensive, which caused Fenghua to grin, as her sky poison pearl glowed, every single one of the herbs flowing into it as she walked closer to what was calling for her. 

It looked akin to a stone, but slowly spread open akin to a flower, as it revealed what almost looked like a small orb or pearl. This was the Fire Seed, one of the most important objects for her future, and one she HAD to gain. 

“Don’t touch it! The stone was under a summoning art!” Jasmine yelled, only it was too late, as a deep booming voice echoed in the cave, as Fenghau turned to the large dragon that snarled at her. 

“Greedy Human! You dare to touch the treasure of this king!?” The Dragons voice echoed, as it stared down at Fenghua, who breathed in deeply, readying herself to fight the thing if she had to, only for Jasmine to appear in front of her. 

“You’re lucky I’ll die if you die” Jasmine said with a scowl, as she turned to the large dragon, a deep dark purple, red, and pinkish color surrounding her, as she raised her hand and spoke. 

“Die!” Jasmine yelled, as Fenghua watched in slight awe.

‘...So that’s the technique of a God’ Fenghua thought, as she turned to Jasmine, moving in a burst of speed to catch the teen as she fell to the ground, and into her arms, while the dragon fell, dead. 

Placing her onto her lap, Fenghua sighed ‘God I hate that I had to do this, but it was the only way to get it’s core and the Seed at the same time’ Fenghua thought, as she cut alongside her wrist, putting her own blood into her mouth, cringing at the iron taste, before leaning down and locking lips with the unconscious Jasmine, pushing the blood into her throat, in order to properly heal her from the poison that was beginning to overwhelm her. 

She continued to do this over and over for nearly 20 minutes, ignoring the slight pain as her body regenerated, using her sword birth to make a sword that would grant her regeneration for this moment. 

As she noticed the girl begin to regain her normal color, Fenghua sighed and leaned back, keeping the girl's head in her lap as she waited for her to wake up. 

It didn’t take long before her eyes fluttered open, as she looked up at Fenghua, and couldn’t help but begin to speak “W-Why? Why save me? Wouldn’t it have been better for you if I died? You wouldn’t need to fulfill the promises between us, you would not have to help me reconstruct my body, and you wouldn’t have the fear of me killing you afterwards!” Jasmine asked, as she slowly got up, ignoring the warmth that she felt from Fenghua’s lap. 

“You saved me didn’t you? It’s only right I save the one who saved me” 

“I did it to save my own life! If I want to be reborn with a new body, then I have to make you as strong as possible in the least amount of time, do you really believe I am doing this for you?!” Jasmine exclaimed, as Fenghua chuckled. 

“I know that, Jasmine. But so what? I saved you because you deserve to be saved, Jasmine” Fenghua replied simply, as Jasmine looked at her with wide eyes. 

“Tha-that kind of reason? You don’t even know what I’ve done! On the day of my 16th Birthday, in one day…I killed over one million three hundred thousand people, and my body was stained by crimson blood. Even my name was given to me by them “The Bloodied Mo Li”. I am full of sin, everyone is afraid of me, they all tried to kill me! I am a dreadful demon!” Jasmine retorted, as tears welled up in her eyes. 

‘...Just like in canon, but she was 16 instead of 17…’ Fenghua thought, before softly sighing. 

“You are a kind hearted person, Jasmine, even under this false cover of yours, I can see it. You killed those people not because you wanted to, but because you had to, right? I can only assume that they were attacking you and your family, those important to you, making it deserved on their end” Fenghua replied, before continuing. 

“And so what? You are my teacher now, are you not? I guess we’ll just have to bear those sins of yours together, just as I will have to bear the sins I will inevitably commit” Fenghua softly said, as tears began to streak down Jasmine’s cheeks, whimpers escaping her lips, and her body shaking as she cried. 

“Seems even you can cry” Fenghua said with a small chuckle, as Jasmine broke out into sobs. 

“I..I am your master…when you were trying to save me, you sneakily kissed me so many times! And now you have even made me cry…you can’t…bully your master like this,,,” Jasmine cried, as Fenghua just softly smiled and moved forwards, wrapping her arms around the girl as she cried against her chest. 

“Let it all out, my emotional little teacher” Fenghua softly whispered,

A little bit later, after all her tears fell, Jasmine pulled back with an awkward cough and a small blush. 

“Although you are no longer in any danger, for the next three months I won’t be able to use any of  my power. If I did, even if you were to use all the blood within your body, you still wouldn’t be able to save me. And that red seed you got should be one of the seeds of the Evil God that I had told you about before, you should immediately consume it” Jasmine said, as Fenghua nodded. 

“Also, if you don’t have my consent in the future, then you can’t just casually touch me”

“Of course, I’d never touch someone without their consent. In this case, I did it because I had to do it to save you” Fenghua replied with a nod, as Jasmine blushed and returned to the pearl, all the while saying “In that case, I’m going back to rest!”

Within the pearl, Jasmine was brightly blushing as she realized that Fenghua had kissed her ‘I-I got kissed by another woman! And her lips were so-ah, stop no thinking of that!’ Jasmine inwardly thought, holding her knees against her chest as she thought of how kind Fenghua was to her, while in the outside world, Fenghua tossed the Fire Seed into her mouth.

Almost immediately as she did, she let out a grin as her aura flared around her, the ground cracking below her as she began to break through.

Letting out a pleasure filled sigh as the break through ended, she held her hands up, as her profound energy now had an aura of fire around it, flames arcing around her. 

“So Jasmine, I understand that the flames are thanks to the Seed, but is this a product of the Evil God? As in, was he that adept in controlling the elements?” Fenghua asked, as Jasmine spoke to her through the Pearl. 

“Indeed, the seeds are the source of his immense power over elements, a power that he was well known for. These sources won’t only give you complete control over the corresponding element, but also “Absolute” immunity towards said element!” Jasmine replied, as Fenghua let out a small whistle. 

“Quite the inheritance. Probably for the best that I don’t let anyone know I’ve got this, until I’m strong enough to deal with the consequences. For now I’ll take the Flame Dragons corpse until I can properly use it” Fenghua said, as she walked up to the corpse, but stopped when she heard Jasmine’s voice. 

“Exactly what I was going to suggest. I also believe that it be best you spend the next month learning a new Profound skill I wish to teach you, called “Star God’s Broken Shadow””

“Star God’s Broken Shadow?” Fenghua muttered, in interest, as Jasmine spoke. 

“Mmhmm, it’s a Movement technique! We’ll begin training it tomorrow, for now, get out of here, I’m going to sleep!” Jasmine said, as she cut the connection, and Fenghua smiled. 

‘Well then, time to sign in!’ Fenghua thought, as she signed in. 

[Signing in!]

[Sign in Location - Flame Dragon’s Den]

[Dragon Reactor Core - A unique and powerful core within the users body, that allows them to hold more energy in their body, as well as massively strengthening the users energy, making it purer and stronger (Applies to both). It also strengthens the users physical capabilities by a decent bit. The most powerful aspect of this unique trait the user now has, is that it now allows the user to cultivate not 10 levels in each realm, but 13 (Applies to both Profound and Demonic), making them much stronger than others in the same realm. Should the user gain access to some sort of inheritance, bloodline, or dragon body, this may be strengthened]

[Dragon Skin Dress - A dress made of dragon skin. Is indestructible to attacks belonging to those of the Sovereign Realm and below. Warms the wearer. Is immensely comfortable, and grants increased cultivation speeds when worn. Can be repaired by imbuing with large amounts of profound energy]

Looking at the two sign in rewards, Fenghua smiled, pleased. As not only did she get Jasmine her dress that she wanted, but she also got something incredible. A dragon core, one that, if she was right, would likely go over her heart of sorts, and would strengthen her physical body as well, making for a big boost overall. Having 13 levels instead of 10 was…insane, as each “Level” was stronger boosts to her power, while also being harder to cultivate through, but it would add up to be a massive boost in overall power by the end of it all. 

With the dragon body in her Sky Poison Pearl, and the sign in reward waiting to be assimilated, Fenghua walked off to find a proper spot to stay where she can assimilate it all, one thought on her mind. 

‘Time for more training!’

That’s the end of the chapter!

Deciding the rewards for this sign in was difficult, but I got it in the end. Not sure how many more chapters will be coming for this fic, but I am enjoying writing it so…we’ll see. Who knows, I might make it one of my main fics and just update it every couple of days or so, like I do with Fanon Maker, still deciding. 

Fanon Maker might be getting updated today, we’ll see though, as there’s a huge storm rolling through (Hail the size of golf balls, 5% chance for a tornado (Which is HUGE where I live), and just overall terrible weather).
