Chapter 147 [Vault]

[3rd POV]

At the sound of a voice belonging to none of their group, the ones who were sitting shot to their feet, and every head in the area snapped to where the voice came from, gazing upon Bucky with wide startled eyes. Guns were raised in the case of the few guns that were allowed by the owner of this farm, Hershel, Maggie’s father. 

“Whoa okay! Put those damn things down, I ain’t here to hurt anyone” Bucky exclaimed, raising her hands in a sign of surrender. She’d rather not get shot at the moment, not after taking Sophia this far, and just now getting here. 

“Who the fuck are you?” Daryl’s voice was the first to reply to her, as Bucky looked at the man. 

In response, Bucky smiled underneath her mask “Come on out kid, before they shoot me” Bucky said, as slowly, Sophia who was hiding behind Bucky, stepped out behind her, as gasps escaped the lips of several of the members of the group, none more than Carol, who’s eyes widened in shock, tears welling up in seconds. 

“S-Sophia?” Carol whispered, as tears streaked down Sophia’s eyes. The sight of her mama in front of her pushed her over the edge, as she was finally back home, and her home was her Mama. 

“Mama!” Sophia screamed, as she bolted forwards, Carol sobbing and running forward as well “Sophia! Oh my baby! You’re alive!” Carol sobbed, as she pulled her daughter into a deep hug, sobs wrecking both of their forms as they gripped one another tightly. 

Lori, Rick’s wife, Carl’s mother, and…a bit of a bitch, also had tears in her eyes, as Carol was a good friend, and Sophia was Carl’s only friend. 

Watching the two hug one another, breaking down in eachothers arms, Glenn was the one who couldn’t help but ask “Yeah, back to what Daryl said, who the hell are you?” Glenn asked, as while they could all see that she was a woman, they saw nothing else.

Guns that were previously raised were put down upon seeing that this woman had obviously saved Sophia, which was…big in their eyes. And while they would be cautious of the unknown woman, this went a long way in terms of trust. 

“Bucky Murdock, I was heading through the county to find supplies and stumbled across the little one in the forest, exhausted, injured, and being chased after by a walker” Bucky replied, as they all watched Sophia and Carol reunite after days of being separated. With the way the world was now, days were a long time. 

“Bucky? That’s a…interesting name” Lori couldn’t help but comment, as it sounded more masculine than anything. 

“Yeah my parents were jokesters I guess” Bucky replied with a small shrug, glancing around the group, noticing the tenseness in Shane’s form as he narrowed his eyes at her. She noticed the distrust in Daryl’s eyes, the happiness in Dale’s upon watching the reunion, and most of all, she noticed the interest in the eyes of Maggie. 

‘Huh…interesting’ Bucky thought, filing that look away for the future. 

“What’s that on your back?” Andrea asked. Noticing the large object kept on her back, hidden by a cover.

“Family heirloom from my gramps” Bucky replied simply, as Rick began to speak, coming to a decision inwardly. 

“We-We’re grateful for you findin Sophia for us, for saving her. So…if you want, you can stay with us, we could use another set of capable hands, and you look to be pretty damn capable” Rick said, as Shane scowled. 

“Rick we ain’t gonna just let in some random lady, are we? Who knows what she’s tryin to do!” Shane argued, as Carol, who had finally calmed down from her sharp crying, turned sharply at this, a frown on her face. 

“She isn’t just some random lady! She saved my daughter's life! She deserves to be able to stay!” Carol yelled fiercely, as Sophia also cut in.

“Yeah, Bucky saved my life! She’s my hero!” Sophia yelled just as fiercely as her mama. Hearing this, Rick looked at Shane and gave him a small chuckle. 

“Looks like they’ve spoken, Bucky get’s to stay…if you’re willing” Rick asked, looking to Bucky who gazed around the area, locking eyes with Maggie who was standing in the back watching, giving the attractive woman a wink (which got a small smirk out of Maggie) and turning back to Ricky. 

“Yeah, I’ll stay. Wouldn’t want the kid to throw a fit over me leaving” Bucky replied with a grin, as Sophia cheered happily, hugging Bucky close as the woman in question turned to an older looking man, Hershel. 

“You’re the owner of this land, right? You got any rules against firearms?” Bucky asked, reaching down and pulling out her glock, which had its safety on, and was pointed towards the ground. 

“No guns on my land, except for those that I allow, once you leave, you’re welcome to have it on you, that’s the rule” Hershel replied, as Bucky nodded, and walked over, placing the gun on the hood of one of the trucks in the area.

“Oh! Bucky, can I show Carl your shield?” Sophia asked excitedly, as Bucky sighed, knowing that this was going to happen. She wasn’t afraid of anyone in the group, with only Shane being a problem with him going off the deep end.

“Shield?” Lori asked, as Bucky reached behind her back, and pulled off the shield hidden by it’s cover.

“Go ahead and show them kid, was gonna happen eventually” Bucky said, watching in amusement as Sophia ran over, and pulled the cover off the shield, revealing it’s glistening metal, clean as can be, with it’s star in the middle.

“Pretty cheesy, don’t you think?” Maggie asked with a small smirk of amusement. 

“Yeah well, gramps used it during World War 2, guess it was sorta fitting for the times” 

“He used it during World War 2?” Maggie asked in surprise, walking closer, as the rest of the group watched in amusement as Sophia and Carl struggled to lift it, as it was pretty heavy for their age. 

“Yep, things pretty much indestructible. Made out of a meteorite scientists found during the War. That thing can take the direct strike of a tank shell and wouldn’t even get scratched” Bucky responded, as this was true. Even a Nuclear Weapon would do nothing to it, 

“Bucky, can you do the cool throwing thing you did against that walker once?” Sophia asked, carrying the shield over to Bucky who laughed and picked it up with her right hand. 

“Alright, might as well. Old gramps taught me this one” Bucky said, as she walked forward, and moved in a twirl like move, almost akin to throwing a baseball, as she launched the shield, watching as it bounced off the tree, through some used and empty cans, off another tree, and then back at Bucky at high speeds. 

The group watched in slight horror, expecting for it to cleave her arm right off, only for her to raise her hand, as she effortlessly caught it back right where it came from, a smirk on her face. 

“See Carl, she’s like a superhero!” Sophia said, as Carl watched in awe, an awe that was mirrored by a lot of the group, with Maggie looking at her with even more interest than before. 

‘Forgot that this was back when Maggie was horny 24/7’ Bucky thought, inwardly noticing that it didn’t seem that Glenn and Maggie had hooked up, neither of them giving each other lingering glances, looking at one another, or being close. With all the training and knowledge she had, she could tell that they weren’t a couple, which made her somewhat happy. 

Looking over the group that were still staring at her, Bucky only really had one thing to say at that moment. 

“So…where am I staying?”

Another vault chapter or two might be coming later, not sure. I hope this vault chapter was at least decent, as I tried my best with it, first time writing the TWD characters so it’ll be choppy at first. 

Maggie and Bucky will get together pretty quickly, as that only makes sense with how quickly she and Glenn got together (Literally got together in like a week or two). 

If I do write a vault chapter today, it’ll probably be a Cobra Kai on, the Wonder Woman one (Need to update it soon), and maybe one or two more, still deciding.
