Chapter 161 [Vault]

[3rd POV]

Walking through the portal, Vergil reappeared in an abandoned alleyway in New York, before walking out of it moments later, cane in hand as she walked with it. She noticed that she seemed to have appeared in Hell's Kitchen, the main place that Daredevil had worked, as well as a shit hole with a whole lot of crime. 

Crime that had already begun to seek her out, well, until she gave them a glare at least. The second they even thought of trying to rob her or anything, she just gave them a glance and they froze in fear. 

As she walked through the streets of Hells Kitchen New York, Vergil glanced around, feeling the stares upon her, besides the criminals that she had glanced at, scaring off, she had felt the stares of plenty of normal humans that had no negative intentions. Likely just looking at her due to her uniquely colored hair. 

‘Hmm, perhaps they think I’m a mutant or something of the sort’ Vergil thought, not all that surprised that she was getting looks, as she was a unique looking person. A combination of standing at 6’2 and having white hair would naturally do that. 

‘The Avengers are…terrible at their job, aren’t they? If they had started to combat regular old crime, places like Hells Kitchen wouldn’t be like this. A cesspool of mongrel thieves and arrogant gangsters’ Vergil thought, finding the area disgusting. Not really the people, but more so the area itself. 

‘But I suppose it only makes sense. As from what I remember in the comics, a lot of the members of the Avengers tend to be…arrogant little fools. Especially that Captain Marvel woman, with her stunt during Civil War 2’ Vergil thought, remembering the really dumb storyline, and the even more idiotic actions of Carol Danvers during that event. 

Continuing to walk through the streets, Vergil soon left Hell's Kitchen, and began to get into the nicer parts of the city, the parts that didn’t smell like crap and didn’t have gangs on literally every single corner. 

Although it was New York, so pretty much everywhere smelled unpleasant and had rats.

Eventually Vergil found herself in front of the Avengers tower, staring upon it with a slightly impressed look on her face. 

‘It is quite impressive technologically speaking. But safety wise…it’s horrid’ Vergil thought, already seeing many ways in which she could break in, and even more ways she could obliterate the building. 

‘You’d think they would make the building a bit safer when it’s their primary base of operations, but I suppose they’re not the brightest when it comes to stuff like this, are they?’ Vergil thought with a sigh as she walked towards the building, before stopping in front of it’s entrance, before glancing around and walking in. 

Her form shimmered and began to go invisible as she walked through the door, as if she had never been there in the first place, walking through the “defenses” that were meant to detect anyone entering, only to completely fail in regards to her, as she entered the elevator the next moment, leaning back as it began to move up the building. 

‘I take it back, they’re not only not bright, they’re stupid’ Vergil thought with a deadpan, as she had easily broken into the building, before walking through the opening elevator door. 

Turning the corner, she began to walk around one of the floors of the large building, before rounding a corner and blinking as she noticed a group sitting there. 

“So, what’re we going to do with the Skrull prisoners? We’ve beaten these guys more times than I can count at this point, and they just keep coming back” A man said. This man was in fact, Tony Stark, aka Iron man. He was the one who built the tower they were within, and one of the main sources of funds for the team. 

“We let government take over. I’m sure they can get the information out of them” A blonde woman said, this woman being Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel. 

“Of course you’d want them to get sent off to the Government, why am I not even surprised? You do know that they’re just going to experiment on them, right? We’ve been through this like 5 times now” Tony replied with a groan, as this has happened…way too many times now. 

“This time will be differ-“ “Yeah I agree with Tony on this one. The Government is just going to use them as experiments” A green skinned woman said, this woman being She-Hulk, her muscular arms crossed in front of her chest at the idea of giving Skrulls to the US Government. 

At being cut off, Carol gave She Hulk, aka Jennifer Walters, a fierce glare which she just rolled her eyes at.

”Well you don’t have much of a choice in this matter, do you? SHIELD is taking the aliens in, and the Government will be taking them from there” Carol replied with a smirk as if she won a competition or something. 

“Don’t know why you’re all happy. They’re just going to get turned into weapons for the government like what’s happened like 10 times now” Tony said with a snort, while Vergil was just listening to all of this with a raised eyebrow.

’Seems they already don’t agree with one another, and Civil War 2 hasn’t even gone down yet. At least they’re not dumb enough to think giving aliens to the government of all people is a good idea’ Vergil thought with an amused look on her face, finding this entire situation to be hilarious. 

Steve Rogers, aka Captain America had been sitting on the side, listening quietly at the bickering, as he finally decided to intervene. 

“Enough. It’s out of our hands Tony, SHIELD’s already taken them, and with that the governments likely already took them from SHIELD” Steve said with a sigh, he was on Tony’s side in regards to letting the government take them, but it was already too late to do anything about it. 

“So we’re just going to let them experiment on aliens again? Are we ever going to learn from our mistakes or are we just going to keep letting this crap happen?” Tony asked as Steve sighed. 

“I know Tony, but like I said, we can’t do anything about it, not anymore. If we had anything we could do, I’d be the first person to suggest it, but we don’t” Steve replied, understanding Tony’s growing annoyance with how often this has been happening. 

Carol just rolled her eyes at their interaction “You two gotta get off your high horse and stop blaming the government for everything. Not everything is their fault” Carol said as literally everyone in the room all looked at her with a deadpan, even Vergil. 

“Maybe not literally everything, but a majority of the time it is their fault” Tony replied with a deadpan like everyone else in the room. 

“Can we move on from this? We just had a big win, so I say we focus on celebrating the victory rather than fight about what’s going to happen to the Skrulls we captured” Another woman said, this being Janet Van Dyne, aka Wasp. 

Hearing Janet’s plea for the arguing to stop, arguing that would likely just pick back up later anyways, thanks to the growing animosity between Tony and Carol. The two looked at each other before Carol let out a grunt and dropped it…for now. 

Seeing the two stop, Janet smiled happily that the arguing was finally finished and done with. 

“Good, now, why don’t we get started with a good ole party! The rest of the team should be here soon!” Janet said with a cheer, the woman was happy to party, all the while the others just shook their heads at her cheer, only to stop when a voice echoed through the room, a voice that was not recognizable and definitely not supposed to be there. 

“…You’re security is…terrible” 

Hearing the voice, their heads snapped to the side, only to see Vergil form in front of them, a bored look on her face as she held her cane within her hands. 

Upon seeing her, they all had only one thing to say, with She-Hulk being the one to ask the question. 

“Who-…Who the hell are you!?”

That’s the end of the chapter!

Basically just a bit of a background on the Skrull invasion and showing the current strife in the Avengers, one that would become more important later on. 

Absolutely no clue who the love interest would be. As I’ve got no idea who would suit her. I was thinking of Emma Frost as their personality seems like it would be very similar. Give me ideas though!
