[3rd POV]
Walking through the portal to Malzif, Gwen glanced behind her, smiling as the younger members looked around the city in awe, as they noticed the high buildings and mutants of all kinds walking around the area, smiles on their faces as they did so.
“This place is…incredible” Magneto muttered, looking around the city that was much more lit up than last time he had been there. As now that she had the Eye of Harmony up and running, the entire city was at full operational power, and the factories she had built were now working faster than ever before, producing thousands of androids a day that would then work around Mars to improve the other cities, and anything else she needed done that her clones didn’t have time to.
”Thank you. I finished up the final touches to it a little while ago” Gwen replied with a small smile, welcoming the compliments that were being made about the massive city she had built.
”Max…you’ve come” Xavier’s voice sounded out, as the turned to find the man in his wheelchair behind them, a look of surprise on his face as he gazed at the man that had used to be his friend, long ago before they were put into this rivalry.
Turning to his old friend, Max went quiet, for a few moments, staring him down, before replying.
“Yes, well, the offer was too good to refuse. As even I can admit when I am wrong, and in this case, I was. This city, Malzif, is…it’s a true safe haven for our people, one that I, as a leader, cannot simply ignore” Max replied, stone faced as he gazed at Xavier for a few more moments, before turning back to Gwen.
“Where will our place of residence be?” Max asked, as Gwen smiled, her clones forming around her a seconds later, all of them smiling just as she was.
“My clones will be taking each of you to your new homes, as well as giving you job offers based on your individual powers, knowledge, and experiences. In the case of those who should be in school, you’ll also be shown to the School for Mutantkind where you will attend” Gwen replied, looking over the somewhat large group.
“And what of the elderly who cannot work? Or those of us with abilities that make it hard to do so?” Max asked, as Gwen smiled.
“The Elderly will be given proper living arrangements, ones where they can live in comfort as they deserve. While those with abilities that make it difficult to work, will be taught how to control their powers if that is possible, and if not, we will give them a proper home until I find a way of changing their mutation” Gwen replied, Max raising an eyebrow at the last part, with Xavier asking the question on his mind.
“Changing their mutation? What does that mean, Gwen?”
”It means I can sort of “Edit” their genetic code, and therefore manipulate and change their mutation. This will allow me to heal those with debilitating mutations that wouldn’t allow them to properly function. It will take time to do this though, as every mutation is different on a fundamental level” Gwen replied, explaining what she would need to do in order to help them.
Changing their very genetic code wasn’t too difficult for her, but it was time consuming. As she had to make sure everything was absolutely perfect in order for her to be able to warp their mutation into something that didn’t completely ruin their lives.
She had made specialized equipment in order to do this not only by herself, but also so she can teach others how to do it, like surgeons and scientists so that they can also help people, without having to rely on her for it every single time.
Just as she planned on making interdimensional travel technology, so that her people can also go out and recruit mutants from around the multiverse on their own, not having to rely on her for that either. It would also massively improve her rate of recruiting people, and would give them experience in fighting that they would need for the eventual threats that WILL come.
“…Impressive. And will this treatment be free?” Max asked, as he grew interested in the idea of mutants having their mutations changed.
“It will. I would never charge someone for something like that. All treatments that are necessary in order to save someone’s life will be, not just this one. I’m not gonna profit off of the lives of others like that” Gwen replied with a nod, as the health insurance industry was disgusting, just as charging someone after saving their life is too.
“Good, it would seem that us moving here was the best decision after all” Max said with a pleased smile on his face, understanding now that Gwen was right to say that this city was the future of mutant kind as a whole. Not only was the city huge and safe, but it was also made to take care of the mutants within it, not take advantage of them.

Later, after showing Max and the group their new homes, Gwen was sat in what she had dubbed as the “Council Room” in which representatives of the species would all hold meetings together, similar to what they would have done on Krakoa. Currently the council consisted of Max, Xavier, Hank, Storm, Mystique, and a woman who Gwen was surprised by, Mystique’s wife Irene Adler, aka Destiny.
The head of the council was obviously Gwen for good reason, as besides the fact that she had built the entire city itself, she was also the smartest of them all, and the best when it came to leading.
The meeting that they were having was an important one.
“Why have you called us here, Gwen? No offense, but I was quite busy researching the effects the local plants have on our DNA” Hank asked, as Gwen had revealed that the plants around the city were actually what she had dubbed as “Evolution Plants” and were made to passively make the mutants in the city stronger, while also slowly but surely granting them more control over their power.
“It involves the recruitment of future members of this city” Gwen said, as they all perked up at this, as they (from Gwen herself) knew that there weren't that many mutants left on Earth that had not moved to the city, millions of Mutants now calling it home.
“But there isn’t much left to recruit, is there?” Mystique asked, as Gwen smiled.
“Not from this Earth, no. But the multiverse is a massive expanse of universes, and there are many mutants out there that need our help, and need this city. So, I have created the necessary technology to travel through the multiverse, to find and save them, to bring them to a new home where they can be safe and protected” Gwen replied, as their eyes widened.
“Multiverse travel? It is real?!” Hank asked in shock.
”It is, and I can do it. This city has been built to house billions of people, billions. I plan on creating a group that would travel through the multiverse, saving and recruiting mutants around the multiverse” Gwen explained, as they all breathed in deeply.
“And what of the logistics? How much would this cost? How about numbers?” Max asked, as Gwen smiled.
“My clones will be doing it for the first few trips, before I get the teams ready. After that they will remain in the background just making sure everything goes well. It’s all quite simple really” Gwne replied, as they all looked at one another, the idea of saving mutants from around the multiverse sounding more and more interesting.
Looking at each of them, they all gave Max a nod, as he turned back to Gwen and spoke.
“…Tell us more about this…team”

That’s the end of the chapter!
Next chapter will be the first multiverse travel in this multiverse and the gathering of mutants around the multiverse!
She will also likely be going to another verse soon for a short period, but only later on and for a short period of time.
A vault chapter or two will be coming tonight or tomorrow. As I plan on making a HOTD one with a certain Realms Delight as the love interest, and an MC born to the lions.
Anyways, have a good day!

2025-05-13 07:17:30 +0000 UTCYou know, I would really like to see SHIELD's reaction to the mutants disappearing from the world, as I'm sure they've realized by now. Anyway, thanks for the chapter.

2025-05-13 02:05:14 +0000 UTCFound this from Google While there isn't a single, universally accepted term for a city of billions in fiction, the term "ecumenopolis" (meaning "planet-spanning city") is frequently used, particularly in science fiction. "Ecumenopolis" implies a city so vast it covers a planet or a significant portion of it, often with billions or even trillions of inhabitants.

2025-05-13 00:11:47 +0000 UTCI'm not sure if there is a proper term for a city made to house billions, but I feel like city is no longer the right word, I know town and village are steps down in scale from city but mazlef would be 2 or 3 steps above city. Metropolis and megapolis might work, I suppose the step above that would be gigapolis, there are probably other works of fiction with cities of this scale that have a better term.
