Hey Folks! It's James. Dael, Djordi, and I are taking your questions about monsters and classes in the MCDM RPG RIGHT NOW. We already had a LOT asked over on the announcement post for this stream, but we'll also be answering them in chat. We'll get to as many as we can, and if we don't get to yours, don't worry, there will be more Patreon livestreams in the future!

James confirmed that they won't be hitting the Q2 target for next patreon playtest but want to get something out to Patreon in July. I'd say game dev is one of the hardest creative projects to accurately estimate timelines for. Rushing out a packet to Patreons to hit the Q2 target would be good for hitting the goal of 'sticking to the plan' but not the goal of allowing patreons to be in service to the development of a sick ass ttrpg. here's James' update: "Hey folks! Update for you all on this: ⁠mcdm_rpg-discussion⁠ Well, late Q2 is going to miss the mark, but we're working hard towards an end of July goal to get something for folks to test. See, the problem was in this game about fighting monsters, that we really needed to work and rework and rework the monsters to get them in a place where WE liked them before we shared them with you all. We're there now, but we want to run them through our testing pool and in a little edit pass before we get it all to you. We'd like to have them in your hands by Gen Con, and we're gonna do what we can while treating staff and freelancers like people to hit that goal for you all. Sorry for the delay, and thank you for understanding!"

I feel like they’ve been pretty clear pretty consistently about the interactiveness of development. What we really want is to have the fully finished game in front of us, but we don’t, and we won’t until they finish it. They only release packets when they think the game has taken a shape worth showing to a wider audience in order to gain general outsider feedback. All is in service of the final game!

When do we think we will get another playtest packet? In my opinion this patreon has been a lot less interactive than it was pitched in my opinion. I don't feel my experience is that different from kickstarter when I'm not really allowed to comment, and I'm not able to play it as it was implied we would be with all the warnings of "don't get attached to the version you see" and "this is going to be messy and you are signing up for that if you join patreon".
