The latest estimate, based on countries in which these numbers were reported was 217m women in more than 35 countries had been subjected to some form of FGM/C. This happens in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. The US passed a law banning FGM/C in 1996. However a federal judge in Michigan over turned that law in 2018. He said it was a state decision not federal. Sine 1996 some 35 states have enacted anti FGM legislation, which means 15 states rely on a federal law that has been ruled unconstitutional. 😡😡😡

You questioned about the "feeling" the visions. I expect that Doyle did as well, but he might have had an easier time pushing those feelings away. And yes, this is the first time they mentioned it. But Doyle did alude to it with something like "mind crushing, surround sound visions", like he meant he was right at the center of them, in the victim's shoes. Just my thoughts on that. As for dancing Angel, it is truly a sight to make one giggle!

My only problem with this ep is that it isn't long enough. It feels like a really interesting indie sci fi/horror movie. It feels incomplete.

You are correct that the episode is doing a metaphor for genital mutilation and control of a woman's freedom and sexual power.
