Angel - S02E07|♡Uncut Reaction &Review ♡

I'm sorry guys for being late I had to work on the new set up and I think I messed up a bit with the audio. I figured what's wrong after I recorded the video but next time audio will be much better.

Anyway, I can't get over how brilliant this episode and the whole crossover was.

If watched back to back it will feel like watching a  whole movie.

BTW there’s like a little part missing in the start of part 2 because the camera stopped recording and I didn’t notice. Sorry guys I’m still not used to this.

Angel - S02E07|♡Uncut Reaction &Review ♡

Comments

I have a question based upon an implied assumption made in this video. Which is, would it be fair for a vampire to go to hell? To even become a vampire you have to die, and yes you come back but you come back without a soul. That's the key part, "soul". To punish a vampire you would have to punish the soul for something it took no part in. Remember the soul leaves before the vampire is born, so how can it be responsible in any form for what the vampire has done?

EPIC00

My take on Darla's comments about there being "nothing" is that she actually was in hell, it's just that her personal hell would just be a void. Remember that Darla (like many vampires) is aroused by pain, so sending her to the typical Christian idea of Hell (eternal torment, hot pokers) would be pointless. But Darla is a hedonist. She loves the finer things in life, she loved being a vampire and she was sensual and decadent. Being stuck in a black void with absolutely nothing to do would be the perfect hell for her.

I'm sure God has done a lot for you.

Finally able to watch. SoFie you are so amazingly insightful. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone catch on that it was the master who was the priest and to catch onto the parallels of Angel and Darla. One small continuity detail I love they followed through on comes from Buffy S1 Ep7. When Darla is in Angels apartment he asks her “What’s with the schoolgirl outfit? Last time I saw you it was kimonos.” In the final flashback scene in this episode when Angel rescues the baby, Darla is wearing a kimono.

One detail I love watching the two back to back is how over the last century, Angelus has gone from the arrogant, dangerous, carefree rebel against his old-fashioned vampire elder TO the frustrated elder against Spike as the new generation, even more disrespectful and willing to integrate into human life.

“God never did anything for me.” Why is this so relatable lmfao I absolutely love this episode and it’s amongst one of my favourites of Angel ever. The ending scene with the parallels from before is fanatic and great acting from both David and Julie

I’m up to the part of your reaction where you’re asking about the timeline…. a quick breakdown: 1609: Darla is turned by the Master 1753: Darla turns Angelus in Ireland 1760: Angelus meets the Master with Darla 1860: Angelus drives Drusilla crazy and turns her 1880: Drusilla turns Spike in London. Then the same year in Yorkshire (maybe a few weeks/months later), Angelus mentors Spike and they fight about Spike being reckless. Spike finds out what a slayer is. 1898: Angel is cursed with a soul and goes off on his own, leaving Darla, Dru and Spike. 1900: China, Boxer Rebellion, Angel, having had a soul for 2 years, finds Darla and wants to come back to her. Spike kills his first slayer.

Kirsten (Heavenli24)

All true. And he's also a bit of a drooling idiot. It's so perfect.

JeffLee

As for vampires getting "consent" before turning someone into a vampire; Dracula told Buffy before he gave her some of his blood that to become a vampire a person must be near death AND they must yearn for it.

Julie and David have incredible chemistry. I think even more than SMG imo.

Phoenix Dawn

I really like how in the scene right before Spike gets sired, Dru says she could find the wisest and bravest knight in all the land. Even though Darla made that crack about the first drooling idiot, it looked like Dru wasn't even paying attention to her, just watching William as he walked away. If you think about it Spike really is wise in his own way being able to understand emotional depths, and what is braver than looking to fight slayers?

I absolutely love the duality of interpretation of Angel's reaction to the Chinese Slayer's death! When watching it on Buffy, it is easy to interpret as he doesn't like Spike and he is jealous or doesn't want Spike to have any glory. But then we get this episode, he actually has his soul and sad that the Slayer was killed! It is friggen brilliant!!!

Phoenix Dawn

One of the things I love about watching Buffy reactors is when they, like you, have the realization that Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the best series they ever saw. It nearly always happens eventually. And they're always surprised by it. Watching a new reactor is fun because they so don't know what they're getting into. lol

Bud Haven

My understanding is, Dru already sees the future in many cases and has really strong senses. So, with William, I think Dru has seen that she would choose him...it is like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Or, just senses his emotions because she is tuned into that at a heightened level. Like, she could read "his heart". But choices of words like "effulgent" again comes from her connection to the spiritual realm and knowing that was part of William's heart somehow.

Phoenix Dawn

That POV scene flip between episodes fuckery is low-key the best goddamn thing ever.

Absolute0

Agree. Also what she’s going through is something only he can understand and that also opens up the possibility that she may come to understand him in a way no one else has

Flora Smith

Best crossover ever. Loved watching this with you! I believe the reason Angel cares so deeply about Darla now is because she's human and has a soul. Angel had a soul for 100 years, and there was never a chance he could fix her. I assume after all that time, you learn to move on... and that's where we saw them on Buffyt. But now there's a chance to save her soul, so all the memories come back... with hope.

Bisibia

Re your questions, Angel has had his soul for a couple of years when he returns to Darla and Spike was turned about 18 years before Angel got his soul. And yes, these two eps are genius

Flora Smith

Background looks like raspberry sorbet with truffle enhanced sprinkles. Great colors and furnishing, aestetically appealing!

Andreas

Sofie totally smashing the record for recognizing the Master’s voice 🤣🤣🤣

Flora Smith

Oooh I love this one. Excited to watch! Back when it aired, these two episodes were back to back! It was epic and one of my favorite crossover events ever
