Also Maby mommy issues!

Yes I think you hit the nail on the head that Spike likes Joyce because of the way she treats him. Also, it's always bugged me as well that Giles gets paid but Buffy doesn't. No offense to Giles, but Buffy's doing all the hard work here haha.

Corey

😄 She totally is.

I really enjoy your reactions Sofie! And your appreciation of stylish fashionable moments of Buffy and glory :)

I loved this reaction and wanted to specifically comment on the Buffy's decision to trust Spike (Spike!) with protecting Dawn and Joyce, the two most important people in her life. It understandably gets overshadowed by Buffy's amazing speech to the Council but Buffy's decision and specifically what she tells him are some of the most surprising turn of events in the entire show. In Season 5, Episode 4 (Out of My Mind), Buffy tells Riley: "Do you think I've spent the last eight months with you because you've got super powers? If that's what I wanted I'd be dating Spike." This is such an absolutely wild and very specific reference to someone that Buffy supposedly hates. Why would Spike, her mortal enemy, even pop into her head here unless she's thought about it before? If anything, it makes more sense for Buffy to reference Angel. She also knows Riley hates Spike.  And yet, here she is just a few weeks after talking about Spike's "superpowers" telling him directly in Checkpoint that "You're the only one strong enough to protect them." This is a shocking statement (especially since she says it with complete sincerity). As you point out in your reaction, on some level, she has to trust Spike in order to ask him to do this. For all she knows, he could betray her to Glory like he did with Adam in S4. She deliberately chose to go to him rather than ask Willow and Tara to do some kind of protection spell, for instance. Buffy called them "very powerful witches" and yet it seems like she thinks Spike is more powerful? An interesting juxtaposition with Buffy telling the Council very soon afterwards that it's all about "power".  But we know from S5, Episode 8 that Buffy actually confided in Spike about her mom's illness (off screen) after their night sitting next to each other in Fool for Love. She confided in Spike before she told her boyfriend, Giles, Willow or Xander. And yet she's trusting him (the soulless demon) again here. And this goes all the way back to Lover's Walk in Season 3, when she tells Angel: "I can fool Giles, I can fool my friends, but I can't fool myself. Or Spike, for some reason." Another time that she makes a very specific reference to Spike to (a different) boyfriend. She's admitting that somehow Spike (pre-chip, soulless and still actively killing) knows a part of her subconscious that no one else knows.

Spike: Ladies, come in. There's plenty of blood in the fridge. Dawn: You mean, like, real blood? Spike: What do think? Dawn: Mostly, I think "ew." Now do Dawn's last line in your head in Buffy's voice. It's fuckin' creepy. It's literally something she would say. The monks really did create a mini-Buffy I guess😆

Buffy saved that monk who did the ritual, and the monk knew where the key was (she was questioning him), so Glory is assuming he told Buffy about the key. That, and she knows Buffy is on the side of good, and that her job it is to protect others, so if anyone would know where it is, it would be her. I think she's also assuming the monk turned to her in order to protect the key, even though Glory doesn't know the key is a person or how Buffy would protect her/it. Hope that makes sense. I love this reaction, and to an episode that is one of my favorites.

Raven Dark

Buffy can't slay her. She is literally immortal. I guess the real question is how is she going to defeat an enemy she can't kill.

Buffy stealing away Glory’s monk in episode 5, and the fact that Buffy is a force for good in Sunnydale, are reasons why Glory is lead to believe Buffy knows about the key.

The Witch Hawk

Boss babe Buffy. I love her so much. I completely agree that Buffy should have demanded a paycheck for herself too. She’s doing all the heavy lifting here

Sofie’s face at the end: 😳🧐😨😯🥴 “Giles let me talk to Buffy, because I think she’s understanding me.” “I want an answer from Quentin because I think he’s understanding me.” 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾

Glory is indeed fantastic. And yes also a god. But Buffy practically becomes as a god in that speech. Such a girlboss.
