You seemed surprised when Spike fed off a human. The human was already dead. Dru killed her by snapping her neck, before she gave him to Spike. Spike's chip only goes off if he attempts to harm someone. You can't harm someone who is already dead.

Spike team with buffy season 2 to help her save the world . Without a soul he wanted to save the world . Spike saved Giles anya willow Buffy's mother. He had a bound with her mother with no soul . Spike kept his human emotion as a vampire . Angel was heartless without a soul . Spike could have left town . But with no soul he stayed an helped them all season 4 an 5 . Spike is a fan favorite for a reason . The director wanted fans to hate spike . The show was better after angel left. Spike picked up the slack . Spike get no credit.
