When the show moved from the WB to UPN it aired in a 9:00 time slot plus UPN wanted a more young adult rather than teen drama show and even though UPN was a “network“ it still aired on local affiliate stations meaning they could get away with a little more

This episode, and in general Buffy and Spike's relationship mid season six takes me back to a line spike said in 5x07 "Fool for Love" about all Buffy and he have ever done has been dancing. In his mind, the violence and abuse he and Buffy are inflicting on each other are an extension of what in his mind is his "dance" with Buffy. And her constantly sending him mixed signal had made it "okay" in his mind to treat her this way.

Lol I could write an essay on how finding Spuffy/the end of this episode appealing was not something that was great for me at 15. Whew.

I had the same reaction. It’s so unhealthy and toxic but so very, VERY hot.

If Buffy and Spike do it two more times they will have had sex more times than Bangel ever has. If they do it one more time they will have done it more times than Buffy remembers doing Bangel sex. Follow me for more Spuffy math at-

Nor does she have to worry about breaking him, like she probably had to with Riley, poor girl lol

It's official. Buffy and Spike make love like two tyrannosaurus rexes. On the bright side, at least Buffy doesn't have to worry about Spike losing his soul....because he already doesn't have a soul....

Well, buffy had to die and being ripped out of heaven for her to actually act on whatever feelings she had for spike😂😂 I honestly believe she already had feelings for him that she obviously denied, just think about how many times she spared him, how many times she relied on him to protect her family, or how upset she was when she learnt he was in love with her, but none of it matters because she would have never act on them, so yes, spike never had a chance before, and he knew that, he says as much to Riley.

I was waiting on your reaction to this episode since season 5 cause I know you never thought spike had a chance with buffy. Surprise .Spike has something special about him just like angel . Buffy couldn't admit it to herself . Spike knew before she did

Yeh there are a whole bunch of dailies on YouTube from this episode, which are even hotter because you can hear them moaning with no music in the background😂😂😂 I think I read an interview where joss said he was forced to add music because Sarah and James were being so extra😂

I don’t have the link, but there is a clip on YouTube that features a deleted scene which shows Buffy riding Spike for an extended period of time.

It always makes me laugh the way he’s going to kill that woman and treats it like a therapy session, and spends 20 min talking to himself🤦♀️

Re Spike going to kill the girl in the alley. For me, that scene is all about Buffy and what she's said to him/what she said he is. She's clearly the reason/his motivation, as he rambles about her and what she said to him the whole time. So I don't take it as, "Spike thinks he can hurt people again and his first decision is to go do that." It's much less about his instincts and impulses (note him having to psych himself up to do it), and is totally about his identity crisis. Spurred by Buffy treating him with personhood one moment, then as a thing/nothing the next. Now, a typical soul-having person would have taken Buffy's words and found a non-homocidal expression for their crisis. But he's a vampire without a soul and killing humans and doing evil is at the root of his nature, and ergo his identity.
