Isekai Recommendations

With BOFURI now complete I need a new recommendation. To replace BOFURI I’ll need a new isekai series. Fantasy will be allowed too.

Choosing the top 5 most liked to be voted one.

For what I have seen: Myanimelist.net/animelist/JoeFreshest

Comments

We should be doing another one of these posts when I finish DanMachi in about a month.

JoeFreshest

im a little bit late to the game, but i would say watch "If It’s For My Daughter, I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord" its not an isekai but its in a fantasy world. but be aware cuteness overload incoming.

zecke22

Not an isekai but a fantasy: Kemono no souja erin Don't think a lot know about this and it certainly is more of a relaxed one (even if there is action/tension sometimes in it)

Fusssel

I can highly recommend the Abridged even if you don't react to it

Stephen

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic

wahninomae

I watched season 1 of Sword Art but I haven’t seen any abridged series.

JoeFreshest

Please no. The only good thing I got from that series was the music and it's not really reaction friendly.

wahninomae

The anime is great

Brian Carotenuto

Have you watched Sword Art Online Abridged by Something Witty? I scrolled through your list, but might have missed it, is funny as hell

Stephen

Claymore has an anime? I never hear anyone talk about it. I hear the manga is supposed to be very good though.

JoeFreshest

That’s one that is often recommended too.

JoeFreshest

Unfortunately I already watched it. With that said, I did enjoy it, but I didn’t do reactions for it.

JoeFreshest

That is a kick ass anime I've watched it like 10 times

Brian Carotenuto

The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent just announced a season 2

Ari

Dragon maid, is definitely fantasy and technically an Isekai.

Aidan

I've been trying to get a good reactor to react to this for years... But I think the time will never come.

Untolddead Writing Webnovels

That was the other one I was thinking of.

Deven Mitchell

This series could be interesting but is a video game mmo story truly isekai or fantasy?

Untolddead Writing Webnovels

It is but hasn't it been reacted to a lot by others?

Untolddead Writing Webnovels

Juuni kokuki (12 kingdoms) Old school great isekai story! Drama, mystery, action, and psychological.

Untolddead Writing Webnovels

"spice and wolf" is a solid fantasy

devin782

Yes. Drifters is dope.

Richie Roberts

.hack/SIGN

Deven Mitchell

I really like claymore

Adrian fuentes

I loved the art style of this and how they used historical figures.

Awe

Drifters

Dragon

I feel that, definitely isn't for everyone. Sorry I didn't scroll through dropped lol

Jondely

Grimgal of Ashes and Fantasies ReCreator KumaKuma Bear Drifters

Sven Hegenbart

Seen Tsukimichi and Spirit Chronicles. I like Tsukimichi much more.

JoeFreshest

A great Isekai is Dog Days it has 3 seasons

Brian Carotenuto

Got some oldie/classic ones in there, good stuff!

Isekai/Fantasy suggestions Familiar of Zero - Isekai Shakugan No Shana - Fantasy Tower of Druaga - Fantasy Maoyuu Maou Yuusha - Fantasy Scrapped Princess - Fantasy

Sovereign

Honestly, there was nothing that made it stand out for me.. I ended up dropping it half-way through, but I may also just have trash taste lol.

☆~Nyaa~☆

I agree with Kyokai no Kanata. Excellent anime. One warning though, there's an ova that's usually passed as episode 0 and it is indeed a prequel episode. REAAAALLY spoilery if you watch it first however.

Kari

Tsuki ga michibiku's anime left me with mixed feelings. While I do agree the story is good, the execution and adaptation left a lot to be desired. Yes, novel reader here. Same thing with deathmarch. The novel was so-so, nothing out of the ordinary to be honest, but the anime lowered it to the isekai trash category. Dont get me wrong, I am a fan of deathmarch, I've read god knows how many chapters (because I don't remember). Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear is just the usual power fantasy. If you like the MC brute-forcing their way out of problems, this is for you. I enjoyed it, but it lacked punch. I don't want to comment on serei gensouki due to personal VERY biased opinions, so there's that. But it's not bad, I think it's the better of the four.

Kari

I've read the LN for Spirit Chronicles and Death March, both outstanding (especially Seirei), but have yet to watch the anime for them.

☆~Nyaa~☆

I'll second that. Its got a killer OST too (of course, Hiroyuki Sawano).

☆~Nyaa~☆

Alright, sadly I'd just recommend the same old stuff which is why I rarely do recommend more then once xD

Sovereign

its super funny but also super short so its like a 10min ep

Sven Hegenbart

Re:creators

Saskatchatoon24

This one very good too!

ShroomPK

Drifters is super good

Saskatchatoon24

For fantasy, Kyoukai no Kanata aka Beyond the Boundary is pretty good. Its also KyoAni. https://myanimelist.net/anime/18153/Kyoukai_no_Kanata

☆~Nyaa~☆

kinda underated at first but it definitely a good show

Buiphuc

So few recommendations from myself Kuma, Kuma, Kuma Bear Seirei Gensouki Spirit Chronicles Tsukimichi - Moonlit Fantasy Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody Kuma is scheduled for a second season at some point this year or next Spirit Chronicles just finished airing on Crunchyroll so no report of a second season yet, but the LN's are doing well Moonlit was a popular Anime, no idea about a second season, but wouldn't be surprised at some point Death March, is a few years old now, so a second season is unlikely, and not reacted to much, which is a surprise since the LN is often number 1 for best selling when released

Stephen

OOOHHHHH; I just remembered something! How about a reverse isekai? If so, then Re:Creators is what you need. I don't really want to say anything else about this anime to not spoil it, also, not in your MAL list. However, I can tell you you (and everyone in for the raid) is gonna love it.

Kari

Second

☆~Nyaa~☆

Always get this recommended. Will this be the time it finally wins???

JoeFreshest

I would agree with Isekai Quartet, however, take into consideration that each episode is 12 minutes long, which includes the opening and ending. So, like 8-9 minutes of actual episode.

Kari

Seen it and dropped it. It was just too slice of life for me. Might go back and finish it though.

JoeFreshest

Stuff I haven’t seen that fall into the isekai/fantasy category. That’s the only condition. I recommend you do your recommendation in a separate comment though so others can see it and like it.

JoeFreshest

This one I really want to see too!

JoeFreshest

Okay, I didnt see this one in your MAL list. Hai to Gensou no Grimgar or Grimgal of Ashes and Fantasies. A 2016 anime with a slightly different take on the isekai genre. No OP protagonist, in here we see the struggles of your run-of-the-mill adolescents trying to survive in a world they are not prepared to.

Kari

This oneee!!!!

ShroomPK

I'm guessing it's only new stuff for this category right?

Sovereign

Watashi, Nōryoku wa Heikinchi de tte Itta yo ne! (Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?!)

Rikamatsu

How abt Drifter that anime pretty cool tbh

Buiphuc

Slime Taoshite 300-nen is a chill one.

Jondely

Isekai Quartet should be a fun one for you and with the movie and series 3 forthcoming (along with overlord 4, konosuba 3 and probably re zero 3 ) very relevant for all your content.

HelenX

Welcome to Demon School Iruma-Kun, is such a underrated fantasy anime is also an isekai in a way and season 3 is later this year

Kamal Luke

Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear

Yonko Magikarp

My recommendation: Isekai Quartet. (I’ve seen all the series that are part of it already)
