Since Lucoa is based off Quetzalcoatl, I'm guessing they're following one of the many Aztec stories about how Quetz was introduced to drunkenness by another god, Tezcatlipoca, who in turn used his mirror to show Quetz how weak he's become causing Quetz to feel ashamed. Therefore, Quetz left the world to Tezcatlipoca. I could totally be wrong though lol
