Yeah I personally love soft spoken word rap like what Kongming did.

Not Ishigami, I wanted to say Haikyu but I know that’s not the anime either. I just can’t quite put a finger on it. I don’t mind the singing. My issue is just not audibly hearing rhymes it makes music sound off to me especially if I don’t know the language.

Been battling with words throughout history.

First paragraph, that’s awesome and explains a lot. Second paragraph, maybe in Japan or other countries but in America where rap was originated. If you battle without rhymes you get booed off stage.

especially Japanm Underground Rap has some unique styles sadly lot of them had to stop because all Bars where closed now during the Pandemic Years

Here's a fun fact: the VAs of the 3 characters in this anime, namely Eiko (96neko), Kabetaijin (Chiba Shouya), and Kongming (Okiayu Ryoutarou), are all part of the Paradox Live project, which is this weird Japanese hip-hop music project created by Avex Productions. You can search it up on YT as I believe the project is still active and they have quite a few songs/raps and MVs already on their channel. The reason why this anime turned out so good in terms of the music production is because these VAs already have some music pedigree under their belts. Also, to your point about the rapping in this show, or just rap in general, there are actually several different styles of rap. The one you keep mentioning about having the words at the end of each bar rhyme is what's normally called a lyrical rap... it's the most common one and is usually what you'd find mixed into verses of songs. But when it comes to the underground rap battle scene, like what ep 6 showcased, the words that they think up on the fly don't necessarily need to rhyme... they just need to make sure they go with the flow of the beat.

Poems really were the rap battle of the past even Vikings did them

Maybe he reminds you of Ishigami? Koming raps more in Style of Suntras - Shinto/budhismus "singing" so it doesnt really sound as rapping and more singing speaking I listen to a lot ot Jap music including rap so dont have that much of a problem. I can really suggest hearing music of Mori Calliope/deamonDice - she does a mix of eng/jap Rap . she gets a lot of credits even from people like Knox Hill or Screan Face Jean. Her Ep endend being Place 1 on different charts in the Hip Hop Genre.
