Update: A Gap Between Eight's Books 2 & 3
Added 2021-01-29 19:30:30 +0000 UTCHello, dear readers.
We're rapidly approaching the end of Eight's book 2--it's only a chapter and two mini-reflections away. As such, I thought I'd share my plans with you.
First and most importantly: there will be a gap between Eight's book 2 and 3. As much as I love him, Eight's been in my head for a couple of years now, and I need time away to keep his story fresh. Don't worry though--I have at least one more novel about him in me.
Second: in the meantime, I'll be working on a new story--a science fantasy duology--that I plan to share here and on Royal Road. I have a fair amount of prep work already done, so it should be only a couple months until you see The Lions of Dawrtaine (working title) starting up.
I'll also be looking at turning Eight's first two novels into ebooks, but that's still a ways off.
Given that I won't have any work publishing in the time between Eight's book 2 finishing and the new story starting, I paused Patreon's charges for February. They'll pick up again once the new work is ready to share.
You're probably wondering when we'll see Eight's book 3. Realistically, the answer is likely a year or two. I'm sorry for the delay, but I know myself as a writer--I recognize the signs that an extended break is necessary.
Please do look forward to the new story though. I've gotten to the know the characters, and I love them as much as I love Eight. I hope you will too.

The current plan is to revisit Eight's first two books once Neverwind is done. It'll be helpful to re-immerse myself in the story in preparation for book 3, as well as to inform my decision if/how to proceed with a rewrite. Two brids, one stone. :) Unfortunately, there's a bias against portal stories in the current traditional publishing marketplace, but I'll take another look when the time comes. I'd love to be traditionally published, but I also need it. As long as there are people to read my work and support me along the way, I'm good. Thank you for the feedback and the kind words. :)

At least six and a half more "books" at the average pace of the story. I mean a thousand pages and he still only is eight years, old. Okay, that will be about twenty books until he's past his teens...

2021-01-30 00:22:09 +0000 UTCThanks for the heads up! Have loved your work so far. Wish you the best og luck with this new project π€ Might also consider posting under your real name (or a pen name) if you want to find bigger success as an author (especially in the traditional market). Regarding ebooks for eight, I'd suggest doing a revision after you've spent a little time off from this project, and then consider contacting publishers to see what they think. Self publishing is of course an option, but trad pub has its advantages. Hell, you should probably write them a few emails NOW and send them your manuscript (and tell them you have a dedicated fanbase) just to see what they say. Perhaps you get some good feedback? Or they'll fall in love with this novel and want to turn it into the next Eragon? Or maybe they like your style of writing and want to sponsor Travelers? Who knows, but I'd definitely send 5-6 emails asap to see what they say. Anyways, was a blast to follow this story. Cheers! π₯

2021-01-29 20:32:18 +0000 UTCYou have kept the quality up and sustained this entire time. I've got faith, and if you need a break I say go for it. I'm interested to see what you have for the new story (name reminds me of something from the d&d setting if faerun btw)
