"The Shoot Incidents that Made Shoot-Style" - out next Thursday!

Hey! Just coming to you with a quick lil' update this Friday. I've been kinda quiet about this month's wrestling video, but I didn't want you folks to think that there wouldn't be one. Indeed, it's going to be a pretty good 'un.

My original intention for this month's wrestling video was to do something still good, but a little lighter -- sort of like the "Weird Matches" video. I've long had the idea to do a vid about Japanese wrestling matches that went wrong and devolved into shoots and started work on that, but gradually it developed a bit of a theme and I've ended up with something that goes into the history of shoot-style -- that is, UWF, RINGS and so forth.

So instead of a loose compilation of shoot incidents, we've got a theme! The vid will cover antics from the likes of Akira Maeda, Nobuhiko Takada and, of course, Antonio Inoki. There's a lot of crazy stories that I had plenty of fun researching, and a lot of very important incidents that delve not just into the origins and popularity of shoot-style, but its role in the popularity of MMA in Japan. The end result should be just under an hour long too -- it's ended up a hell of a lot meatier than I originally thought it would be.

Doing things this way also opens up more vids later on, on shoot incidents that didn't necessarily fit this narrative. Something as horrifying as Act Yasukawa vs YOSHIKO, for example, is complex enough that it could carry a video on its own. And there's something more sillier like the Dirt Bike Kid and his story leading up to that match against Great Sasuke. I'm pretty happy with the results here, and can't wait to show it to you! Anyhoo, look for the vid on here next Thursday, and until then have a good one and stay safe out there.

All the best,

-Kim
