Whenever Otakus are involved, there's always that association with being introverted (at least a good majority anyway, not all of course) so the whole dating another Otaku out of convenience just hits so close to home. The last relationship I was in was with someone who was the exact opposite as I was (not a gamer, non-Otaku, not even internet savvy) so it definitely required a lot of effort in getting to know the other and working around our differences. Whereas dating someone who practically mirrors your hobbies becomes "easy", to the point that you'd doubt if they (or yourself, for that matter) even wanted a relationship or was it because it was just convenient. This show really isn't doing anything extraordinary with the romcom formula but the situations they deal with is what drew me to rooting for this show the first time it was aired.

They're adults ... like that counts as a "thing" for me , they ain't kids and they act like their age most of the times too :D -You're right , doujinshi just means "fan made" -Otaku is a derogatory term in Japanese , it does not mean an individual that just likes anime , it's someone who likes nerd stuff too much , their lives revolving around it etc. - This show is very funny , but most of the jokes are slangs and otaku terms that are specific to the Japanese language and it's hard to translate ... well the fact that the person doing the subtitles on the version you're watching has completely given up doesn't help either ...this is why I don't like sites like crunchyroll (I know it's not the site ur watching) because their subs just make me wanna puke 9 times out of 10 ...their translations are like 1 level above translating word to word like google translate does
