Parallel World Pharmacy Ep. 5 Reaction [FULL]

Comments

If you think a woman pharmacist is progressive wait until you see who sits on the throne.

Lex Sanders

The ruler of the country is an empress. Why wouldnt they let woman do shit. Also there's magic.

The context of the parallel is the era of Italian city-states in the Renaissance, when women helped their husbands run their business and were quite intellectual. The world is probably about the equivalent of the 1400s or 1500s. So it isn't surprising that there would be female doctors. The losing jobs after childbirth has parallels in a lot of societies (like America in the mid 20th century, where there were quite a few women mathematicians, including some working on the manhattan project and later at NASA, but they were generally expected to marry and stop working.)

I guess in the context of the time period where this series seems to be drawing from, that makes sense. Kinda weird to think that being an introvert or a shut-in nowadays would make you look like nobility back then... lol. But of course this isn't completely true for all races. Obviously, genetics will play some part so no matter how "allergic" you are to sunlight, you'll only be considered a "lighter" toned variant of whichever darker skinned race you belong to. So the show basically shows the extreme lengths people go to just so they would look pale.

That's what makes it a PARALLEL world, fam. Parallel literally means things differ from our world, which is what makes it parallel to ours, and not the sameass world as ours. So yeah it's basically parallel under the context of the Multiverse Theory, where parallel universes exist when a universe makes different "choices" and thus separate from their parent universe and become their own one, when before that point they used to be the same universe, until the deviation

This was pretty much a logical beauty standard across wide swathes of areas because of obvious reasons, i.e Nobility. If you were pale af, it means you DON'T have to be somewhere as disgusting as Outside doing manual labor, so it meant you must have been wealthy as shit to be able to be inside 24/7, or afford shit like shading while moving (up to and including a wholeass carriage to carry you while covered), and have other ppl do grocery shopping so you don't lose paleness. Also the reason the term Blue Blood exists as a synonym for Nobility, because they'd be the only ones pale enough to see their blood vessels, which look blue due to how light refraction thru skin works. I'd be mistaken for a noble if I were to suddenly get Isekai'd in my current body too, for aforementioned reasons, so you can see how fucking pale I am

Yeah. Nowadays, people don't just rely on makeup... in Asia, glutathione injections and other glutathione-based skin products are the trend.

statixFEAR

Used to be the same in Europe with white powder lightening the skin and having very harmful effects. That was a long time ago though, 200ish years +

The whole pale=beauty thing is really mostly an Asian thing. Apparently, most Asians see beauty in something that isn't normal in their surroundings (ie. pale skin). For the West, I believe it's the opposite. Westerners see beauty in the exotic darker skin tones, hence why tanning salons and sun bathing is mostly a West thing. But I don't speak for everyone in Asia or in the West... it's just my observation as an Asian myself.
