They already did it xD they made the whole show into 3 movies - some new scenes and Mao arc completly cut out. FOr the Movie after S2 you actually need the movie knowledge. Also there is a spin off about a europe with also pretty good animation that plays between S1 and 2

2022-08-15 10:48:03 +0000 UTCBased on the Black Knight's supporters, they have more than enough money to fund everything since Sakuradite is a very sought after resource and the group of Japanese families headed by Lady Kaguya seems to own most of it. Plus, they also have the Chinese Federation helping them out behind the scenes so it isn't too outlandish to think that they should be good in terms of funding. Heck, now that I think about it, other countries could even see this as an opportunity to take Britannia down a notch so it wouldn't be unusual for other countries to make "anonymous" donations to their cause.
