chunibyou literally translates to 8th grade syndrome , the word breaks down to chuuni which is I think from the words chuugaku (middleschool) and the "ni" part means second year , the "byou" part would be "byouki" which means "illness/disease" .. So it would be second year middle schooler syndrome/disease referring to the teens who go through puberty around that time :) (cause middleschools and highschools are from 1-3 years in Japan )
