Also, she doesn't WANT to fuck with people's lives. That is not her goal. Her goal is to be the most popular and be trusted enough that people tell her their secrets. She feels the ecstasy just from being told, not from using the secrets. She CAN use the secrets to defend herself like she did in middle school, but that is not her goal. She won't tell secrets unless she has to. She does not want to ruin people's lives. That would go completely against her purpose of being praised and recognized.

2024-11-23 07:48:51 +0000 UTCYeah when I first read Kushida's backstory I couldn't help but feel bad for her. Addiction is so scary because of how it alters the chemistry of people's brains. She became dependent on praise because the ecstasy she feels from it is far greater than what a normal person feels. Addiction is incredibly difficult to treat or shake and as a child, she did not get the help she needed. We saw in how she acted when she was alone that her addiction drove her to do things that were incredibly painful for her. And then, after somebody finds her outlet, the only thing keeping her sane, she had to defend herself. And the incident her defending herself lead to followed her to this new school through Horikita. It is incredibly interesting and well written character motivation and it completely flipped my feelings about Kushida. I recognize she is still an antagonist in the series, but she is not evil. She is also suffering.

Horikita only meant that Kushida trust him in his position as school council president. Not sure myself if she tried to apply for the school council in the Novel Also Hasebe ( girl with the blue hair) is ony of my favorite side chars as sh has no restraints ^^
