2025-05-08 22:16:28 +0000 UTCoh boy, this series doesn't spell everything out for the watcher, and the reaction from these first 2 eps alone are not encouraging. The bloom/weed is obviously a reference to the flower emblem on the side of their arm, something that should've been obvious right away when they gave a closeup to the arm between the siblings. The "no one is a civilian" is clearly in context of the entire conversation they just had, so I'm not sure how that went over. She's saying everyone going to the school is special or unique in some way. Such that a secret sword art like "helm splitting" is considered a normal thing to be able to do, rather than special. Mari clearly said she was not a part of the student council. She was nominating Tatsuya to the disciplinary committee, which did not have the course 1 restriction. They didn't "think" about it until then because up until Mari brought it up, they were talking about positions in the student council, a completely different org that requires you to be course 1 to join... I also really don't understand the frustration at not being handed all the info right away. Things like why he is course 2 is clearly something that the show will reveal as it goes on. Why do ppl expect all the answers to come out ep2? Even worse, when the anime tries to answer the question about why Tatsuya is course 2 by showing how slow he is at activating magic, the reaction is "why is he nerfing himself? lmao"

Watch order (based on content & light novels) is: Season 1 Reminiscence Arc (Mini Movie) Season 2 Girl Who Summons Stars (Non-Canon Movie) Initially the Girl Who Summons Stars movie got released between the seasons but shows off characters you don't actually meet until season 2 and the reminiscence should be seen between the season (it will shine a lot of light on questions you have)

2022-09-06 17:51:09 +0000 UTCThe series is another LN adaptation. The first season does in my opinion a very good job at adaptating the original source. Maybe some of the scientific explanations are more detailed in the LN. But the overall series is very good adapted.

It seems a lot of the students come from a family with backgrounds in combat/magic/military to be able to attend an elite school hence the "is there even a civilian attending" question. Also, you're not wrong about it not being exactly fantasy but it's kinda a broad term? When I think fantasy I think of things out of the ordinary like your stereotypical magic and sword story or fighting the supernatural. This kinda fits the category in my term but you're right that it's sci-fi. It's a cool action-packed series and it sucks that you'll have to add another series to your already busy schedule but I hope you'll enjoy this one. The relationship between the sibling was weird at first but I just brushed it off as just a comedy gag and that it's not serious. It's mostly just one-sided as far as I can see.
