Bachiko mentioned last week that archery is extremely difficult for demons (that don't have it as their bloodline I guess) because they get bored easily and don't have the patience, so even if the guy was able to make his bow once he probably still didn't feel like it was worth continuing. It's also why obviously Iruma is the perfect student for her.
