Irregular at Magic High School S2 Ep. 1-2 Reaction [FULL]

Yes, the situation with him is that the magical computation field is occupied by his 2 special magic. It's like a computer with limited storage space that has two very powerful software programs installed, leaving almost no space to run other software.

yes, this guy above me gets it. So many people talk about how Tatsuya is "pretending to be weak", but it is a fundamental lack of comprehension on how Tatsuya's power works vs what modern magic is

Rick James

There is so much wrong with what is posted in this string of posts: it lacks a total understanding of how magic fundamentally works in this series. Magic, as defined by society in this series, is the changing of information (eidos) of an object to cause an effect - such as casting a spell on an apple to change it from being red to blue. What a magician is doing is literally changing the eidos of the apple. Like when Mayumi uses Dry Meteor, she's literally freezing the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to make dry ice, then firing it at her target, then vaporizing it, causing the target to inhale the carbon dioxide and be poisoned by it. Or for Miyuki, when she uses Niflheim, she's literally interfering with the way atoms naturally vibrate - as vibration decreases, it gets colder. As a result, the objects within an AOE, including carbon dioxide and nitrogen, begin to freeze. However, Tatsuya's specialty magic - Decomposition (which includes Gram Dispersion (spell dismantling), Mist Dispersion (vaporizing targets, including humans), and Material Burst (his "nuclear power") and Regrowth - are not like those spells. When Tatsuya uses either Decomposition or Regrowth he's literally destroying or rebuilding the eidos of an object - not simply changing it like in "standard" magic. As I stated earlier, magic as defined by this series is changing the eidos so the state of an object changes. What Tatsuya does is destroy or rebuild the eidos in order to destroy or restore the intended target. As such, Tatsuya's specialty isn't even considered "magic" in the series, because simply destroying or rebuilding the eidos isn't classified as magic - it's considered a superpower. Further, if you look at any of the canonical "power charts" that graph any character's power (5 specific characteristics of physical ability, intelligence, magic ability, combat ability, and special rated on a scale of 1-6), Tatsuya's "magic ability" is a 1 (although "unique magic" is rated as a 6), while Miyuki's magic ability is rated as a 6. Tatsuya isn't in Class 2 because "he's hiding his true abilities and if he could use his "classified" true abilities he'd be in Class 1", he's in Class 2 because he legitimately struggles with the standard magic that the Magic School uses as its standard curriculum. Early in season 1 when it took Tatsuya three tries to pass that standard drill, he wasn't sandbagging to hide his ability; he legitimately struggled with it. And while he didn't want to be associated with the Active Air Mine spell he created for Shizuku for the Speed Shooting event because it would tie him to Taurus Silver (something he needs to keep classified), he also didn't want to be embarrassed by struggling to use the spell he created due to his inability to use standard magic effectively. Tell me - why would he BS Miyuki with that excuse when she already knows everything Tatsuya knows about himself? The biggest problem is I can't even get into the whys of Tatsuya's struggles with "standard magic" beyond Mayumi realizing Tatsuya's special power leaving little room for standard power because the "whys" are still spoiler for anime only viewers. Depending on how Season 3 is paced, it may or may not be revealed in the second half of Season 3.

Yes but theres no need to be a kiss, normal skin contact is enough Miyuki still likes to perform the whole thing also that "Pledge" only seals half of his powers mainly disabling his material burst, he still able to perform mist dispersion that spell that atomizes anything that alone is harder than any spell ever and besides it even in sealead state hes able to use flash cast although normal magic he casts with it is considerably weaker the speed is beyond enything, the novel is more detailed but in episode 4 from first season he needs to bullshit about his magic because Mizuki the glasses girl kind of felt something off about his spellcasting, in fact to appear slow he keeps casting and canceling his own spell so the whole "I am just strong in fights" is in fact bullshit.

Doesn’t he also have some kind of seal on his power too that gets broken by his sisters kisses?

JoeFreshest

Oh ok so there could be stronger Strategic class mages that aren’t known about. Gotcha πŸ‘

JoeFreshest

Well not 10 rly, considering the estimates of total Strategic-class Magicians is like in the 50's, so maybe 5 or w/e would be closer?

Skebaba

As you stated in the video, I know this won't help you for future episodes, but I don't think it was explained enough. Strategic class magicians are essentially the "magic era" version of nukes. Countries will only disclose that they have one or two of them, but will probably have more like 10 hidden in the shadows. Officially, only 13 have made themselves public around the world. Angie Sirius is technically the strongest magician that is known to the public, but knowing America, they probably have someone more powerful that they haven't shown.

David Storey

Most things Tatsuya says to Lina is BS if he used his innate spells he would be the top score in both strength and speed even beyond Miyuki score but most of his spells are top secret so he can't use it so openly.
