We saw at the end of the last episode that Kuroba Ayako negotiated with Kudou on splitting the parasite host bodies for research, so I'm not sure why it is a surprise here... Also, you would be asking about the difference in the emblem right as they are literally talking about the reason why....

During the competition, Erika pointed out that he can now cast spells better than he did in the past before he "lost' his magic and was considered a genius

That is what the new emblem stands for. Tatsuya, Mizuki and Chiaki Hirakawa (the little spy girl form season 1) joined this course. Because of this "reshuffling" Mikihiko got promoted to a course 1 student. Thats why he wears the course 1 emblem.

2023-01-09 17:22:35 +0000 UTCKuroba means "black feather" ("ba" can mean feather or leaf, for example), hence why he figured it must have been done by the Intel/Assassination branch of the Yotsuba Clan Also, the different transparent colors & patterns DON'T really mean anything specific, although most people generally choose colors/patterns that fit their specialties in magic, it's not like there's anything specific that says you have to do this, you could theoretically just do w/e looks cool af color & pattern wise (it's one of the only things on the uniforms that aren't uniform, as they can be individually tailored by person) Hayama WASN'T the same butler from S1, that's only the #4 or w/e butler, whereas Hayama is THE Butler (i.e he's the head butler rn, as can be seen w/ how he's the direct butler to the Head of the Clan rn, as you can see him mostly serving Maya near her). The asshole clearly looked younger than Hayama does, and his voice was obviously different. I mean Hayama ain't that much more friendly towards Tatsuya, but unlike the asshole, they have a 100% professional sort of interpersonal relationship when need to work in tandem happens Fumiya is crossdressing as a disguise, since the partner assassin would be presumed to be a female and not male, it's a perfect cover effectively, especially since Fumiya is such a late bloomer his puberty hasn't started yet (unlike Ayako, who despite being 14/15 during this time can compete w/ Miyuki who is 1 year older than her as far as hmmm assets go), but eventually I suppose he'd have to give up, unless he remains androgynous for some RNG reason I guess. Tatsuya was able to ID their group, because when he uses Information Dimension to look at people remotely, EVERY DATA is linked to the Information Bodies of said people, including who they are related on DNA level (these would be prolly visualized as threads connecting them to some other information cluster etc etc), as well as what they are affiliated with as organizations, because that's data as well so the Information Dimension would link them to that data grouping as well, just like it does to DNA related entities as well, if you know how to navigate the Information Dimension visually (something only Tatsuya can do thanks to his BS ability Elemental Sight. Oh and I suppose we should include Parasites as well, since they are effectively information bodies that live inside higher dimensions, so they'd essentially at least partially perceive Reality from Information Dimension perspective by default, although it would likely look somewhat different to them visually than what it does to Tatsuya w/ his human-centric POV on sensory perception)
