I’m calling it now though, this is gonna be the weakest episode of the season.

The gall to say thatshirikawa is gonna be boring.. rofl, Also it’s important to remember generic doesn’t have anything to do with the quality you can have a show that’s super unique but is ass

I know this very well, I love that show and am very sure that I understand all the intricacies of it, it's just that from episode 4 to 11 I don't think there's a single mention of it really and in my opinion the show benefited from focusing on their relationship as a main point for most of its duration (I understand why it might come off as shallow comparing the shows, I know full well that the gimmick wasn't "dropped" and I also know that there was a very clear point to it. I just think it's good to let the interactions between the characters be the main focus of the show)

the pig one is great so far. lots of mystery going on and matsuoka as the pig is killing it ep 2 had me laughing so hard. who would of tought wed be rooting for pig x jess but im rooting for them

Dangers in My Heart didn't "drop" the murder gimmick the whole point of the show is Ichikawa's murder gimmick was always bullshit and a cope he told himself to avoid what he considered the Dangers in His Heart, which was basically hope. Because Hope is Dangerous for him. How fast he drops it was to show just how shallow and empty his rationalization for giving up on the world was.

I don't feel originality has anything to do with quality, because there is no such thing as originality, everything original was done by the stone age around campfires. I think its more about execution. I do agree this show so far isn't great, but tbh I didn't come in expecting it to. I do think it does do something interesting in trying to break down and analyze a lot common talking points about sex vs intimacy, and experience, etc. But so far it hasn't dived to far into it, and what little it has dived is a bit bumpy in execution. But I do not need nor expect everything I watched to be the greatest of all times. So far I don't see any major flaws, so much as just things that probably could be done better by either a different author or a better adaptation.

Honestly I kinda like that it's so generic. A lot of stories will get too caught up with whatever gimmick they've made up to make them stand out instead of actually focusing on what's the most fun for me, which is just 2 people falling in love/loving each other and doing cute things together (For example, even The Dangers in My Heart somewhat dropped the murder gimmick relatively quickly to focus on the actual relationship, which I liked. To compare this show to The Dangers In My Heart would obviously be blasphemous, I just wanted to give an example, cuz technically at some point that setup also just boils down to popular girl + unpopular guy). So just having this basic story set up is honestly somewhat welcome for me, but I obviously understand if others don't feel that way

Haven't seen the pig one, but I've seen villainous and hikkomari and I'm not into the romance in those shows tbh, I'm watching those two more for the comedy. So far no show this season has a great romance IMO, but a few shows have some potential for it so I'm withholding judgement.

this ones def the last place for romance this season for me right now. 1's place is the pig anime 2 im in love with the vileness 3 hikikomari the vampire

Pretty sure the sports car analogy was an attempt at a subversion of the practice of often comparing hot women to sports cars which is often seen as objectifying and offensive, especially for rich playboy types that often see getting a fleet of sports cars and hot supermodels as part of their status, and often see said hot women as shallow and superficial much like how people see liking sportscars as somewhat juvenile, immature, and a sign of a midlife crisis for older men. His analogy was an attempt (Or rather the writer) to flip that on its head. I think its a bit mixed on how well it was pulled off but I appreciate the attempt. I think the author has a real point and sincere thing he wants to say but perhaps is a bit unrefined in saying it. Also sports cars also are suppose to feel good to drive in terms of handling as well. Also that girl from his past....yeah the way she phrased that I don't blame him for thinking she was into him, in most scenarios that be a clear sign, almost makes me think that either A. It didn't go as he remembers. B. She is autistic because if not C. She had to be screwing with him, because no way no young woman doesn't know how saying things in that context and manner doesn't definitely mean something. I don't blame him for his lack of confidence giving that happened. I wonder if the old childhood friend crush is going to be a real piece of work that will add nothing.
