this anime is amazing so far!
Do you have any non-christian biased sources for that? I wasn't able to find any. A lot of Christian and Catholic sources were stating that on my quick Google search, but my search was less than exhaustive.

I know this comment is pretty old by now but I just wanted to point out that both Samhain = Halloween and Christmas = Yule are myths and have been thoroughly debunked.

Halloween is an ancient Celtic holiday where people would light fires and wear masks and stuff to ward off evil spirits. It wasn't called Halloween then. It was Samhain (Sow-win for pronunciation).
Christmas, or at least many of it's traditions, existed before the Christianization of Germanic peoples in early medieval times. Yule was a festival/ritual that was held near the same time as Christmas is held today.
Some of Christmas' traditions can even be traced back to the Norse religion, thought that classifies a bit more concretely as religious, so that doesn't really count.
Harvest Festivals have been a tradition in humanity for about as long as recorded history can show us. I don't know if you would call that a full-on holiday, but I think it's a holiday by some margin.
Most holidays that we hold sacred for most religions started off as a Pagan holiday first. Human's aren't really as creative as we give our selves credit for when it comes to making our own fairy tales. Religion is one of the biggest culprits when it comes to plagiarism.

Not wrong but a bit one sided. Christianity made it over the course of time to something that also religious people can celebrate. With some customs, songs and sayings. The more New Year became important to people the more Christians also wanted to celebrate it.

New Years is non religious. There are some, but religion was placed on top of them when the dominant religion took over. Look into the history of holidays it's interesting.

What I find interesting is a lot of human culture and activities are based off two things. A. People die, and have various ceremonies or rites of passage for different stages in their life, and B. People need to reproduce and pass down the next generation or preserve knowledge and leave something behind when they are gone. A lot of stuff from big ceremonies, traditions, institutions, even little everyday mannerisms have their origins in that.
Frieren is outside of both of these in that she has a long life and has little to know desire to find love. So that's one reason a lot of concepts that seem second nature to humans are alien to her, and yes without those concepts she can't fully connect with her own party and she feels a sense of isolation.

There's been a lot of the subversion of the classic trope of "Demons are pure evil period" in recent and not so recent LN, Manga, Anime. You get a Demon Lord who's rational and willing to live with humans, like Rimuru. Or maybe she has some ulterior motives like Ariel in Kumo Desu.
The demons we see here, they follow the archetype. Cannot even comprehend the idea of not killing every human in the world.
This archetype is why every NPC is always so scared of Demons and Demon Lords. But as westerners we aren't so exposed to that archetype, so it seems odd sometimes that NPC would be so averse to negociating with Demons. It's good to see the actual archetype once in a while, it reinforces the uniqueness of other shows too.

And it only gets better, I love reading the manga cause I couldn't wait but the anime is so hype cause of everything the animation team has done.

Except unlike religious depictions, they AREN'T evil, they are literally incapable of understanding what they are doing is wrong, as they lack 99% of Human emotional range, except maybe the most base impulses of an organism, that is mostly prey-related trigger reflexes

This episode was great. They took the run of the mill Nuance of a demon race and threw it out the window. They aren’t misunderstood, they are the textbook definition of evil. Religious depictions of demons are exactly how they are depicted in the show. They lure us in with beauty, pretty promises and false empathy. Convincing you that right is wrong and vice versa.
