I mean, I wouldn't say "there is no reason for his hate" I think the reason for his hate is a valid thing. It might not be what people wanted, but well... it is what it is. And it's not just that Hody hates Humans... he hates everything and everyone that isn't against Humans. Even other Fishmen. Because technically, Fishmen Island Arc is basically Social commentary. It tackels History and the repeat of it, Hatred, Love, becoming a product of your environment and racism especially also with the Law that Fishment are not allowed to give Humans blood. So it's not only the Fishmen that have prejudices and some racism toward Humans, because most Humans are racist towards Fishmen... but it goes so far that there is basically a racist Law against Humans because of the prejudices. I mean, they have a good reason for it, they just don't trust Humans. But it just shows how deeply rooted the wholething is. So yeah, I think Hody's "backstory" isn't bad... but yeah it's not what most people wanted. People wanted something more personal... but Fishmen Island is basically social commentary.

2024-01-21 22:44:58 +0000 UTCI can agree Whitebeard might’ve gotten involved, but I don’t see Big Mom doing it. It is more like a civil war than someone outside terrorising them. And as they said somewhere at the start, Whitebeard never asked for anything in return to protect them, while Big Mom is demanding candy from that factory. So it would seem she’s not as “benevolent” I guess 😕
