I read that next episode should be the last one. Still, I do think 5 episodes focusing on character introductions is just too much in a season that's going to be a mere 12 episodes long. There's some world building as well, but... not all that much. What keeps me watching is the interesting first episode mainly. A lot of the characters are somewhat interesting, but it's not like they've gotten much more than an introduction.

Also while we have no direct examples, I presume that Outsiders since they can't interact w/ Word Arts, are likely immune to some extent on direct Word Arts usage on them (so "Die" wouldn't work on them for example). My bet is that Kia gets the clap from speedblitz Outsider like Soujiro or Dazan, they both seem to be the blitzer melee types who can prolly clap her before she can do anything

There will be other things happening outside the tournament. This story is so much more complex than it lets on its amazing. Also yes it was a LN first.

I'll add a more detailed description since the subtitles always neglected this section. "In this world, there's no common language. Each individual here assembles their own language system through their own grammar and pronunciation, while the meaning of different languages will be translated through the Word Arts. Therefore, as long as an individual bears a form of language, a non-minia or even a minia from the Distant World is also capable of conversing in this world."
