I think the CG is on purpose, because so far they just used it for the Monster, the Cock that pulled the carriage and Chilchil, so basically creatures, And I think they look like some stuff from some PS2 era JRPG, just with higher resolution. And they also have these few parts and the outro where they have the Old School JRPG Pixel artstyle. I feel like the Monster and the Cock had so little screen time that just animating it would've be a big deal, there is no fight or complex stuff going on. So doing it in CG feels like wouldn't make much sense. That's why I could see that the CG is on purpose. Just for Monsters and creatures.
