Arturia on the other hand, while I dislike the extreme of her obsession with how to do things nobly (from her point of view), I do respect her way of ruling for the people. And it is a common story to be "alone at the top" because even when you have friends, they don't share your burden of responsibility as much. Saber wasn't wrong for that aspect in general, but she could've tried to open up more to her comrades. Her problem wasn't her way of ruling. Her problem was that she counted her friends and close comrades as part of the people instead of as people who could support her more personally. So in the end, both Iskandar and Arturia fall prey to tunnel vision, but only Arturia seems capable of introspection (Iskandar might too, but he'd need to be faced with something that can go past the wall of his ego of being absolutely right about any of his views without question). (but then, Arturia's depression at how her kingdom fell combined with her introspections in Fate/Zero leads her to be still tunnel visioned, just in another direction.)

2024-08-14 20:01:57 +0000 UTCHistorically, while Alexander was very charismatic and a great conqueror, he wasn't a good ruler. And the splintering of his kingdom after his death could even be said to be his fault as he said that his successor should be the strongest. That's it. His opinion on how to be a good ruler isn't valid since he wasn't a good ruler in terms of actually ruling.
