Hyouka Ep. 3-4 Reaction [FULL]

Comments

I'm definitely a sub enjoyer but for Hyouka I feel the dub is really good and a nice touch when it comes to the actual show because there is so much talking etc.

The Letter isn't weird, its natural that the time of the year for starting prep for the festival would be coming up so the sister would write a letter to remind him/tell him if he didn't already know to make an anthology.

They actually DO give you the clues you need to solve the mysteries before the characters actually, some of them are based off reading Japanese text in articles though.

The Page Oreki brought btw is the same page in episode 2 with the Library book mystery Chitanda opened to when trying to get him to solve the "unwanted book" mystery. It's meant to be a clue to the reader/watcher. Sadly if you can't read Japanese it doesn't help the audience to solve the mystery before the characters.

I watched Hyouka series alone for several times and also watched others reactions for several times, I also read the novels. I would say that's all good without any extreme reactions. The most enjoyable thing of this show in my opinion is actually the emotions and thoughts of different characters. "How are these characters feeling at that moment?" "What is the true intention behind those lines they just spoke?" KyoAni did really great and detail job in presenting different characters emotions and feelings (they are really good at it). That's the point I found this show more and more interesting everytime I rewatch it.

They ARE in highschool, he ended his career as a middle school graduate because he never finished highschool.

The line "shocking pink" to describe Satoshi was not chosen by accident, there is a certain implication in the use of that phrase as opposed to "Rose Colored"

Notice how Oreki despite being an "energy conservationist" and not wanting to help Chitanda with the mystery of her Uncle at first (He basically guilt tripped himself into doing it.) When Chitanda is ready to give up because the truth might be better left forgotten, he could have left it at that, but he went out of the way to encourage her to seek the answer anyway.

should be noted since the Novels came out in 2001 it was originally 34 years ago they retconned it to 45 for the anime to jump it ahead to the 2012.

It very much was tobacco in Japan it would be a VERY big deal if a child of an influential family in education was caught doing anything illegal, even if it was "mild" by US standards. Anyway you can see the beginning influences of Ayankoiji with Oreki's cold manipulative side to him.

It wasn't trolling the audience so much as showing Oreki's headspace, he wanted it to be a confession and was surprised and disappointed that it wasn't, the world was dyed pink, the clock's had hearts, and for a moment time "stopped" before he "snapped back to reality" and the world returned to earthy tones.
