2023-06-02 16:48:36 +0000 UTChmm? Don't people call G8 filler because it's not in the manga? I.e. because it's truly a filler arc (because typically that's how anime fandoms define filler) unless you're talking about the Foxy arc, but I didn't notice Joe talking about that

2023-06-01 19:52:22 +0000 UTCIt's filler. It's in the manga, so it's manga filler, rather than anime-only filler, but still filler. Still fun to watch, but being part of the manga does *not* make something "not filler." Canon =/= non-filler. Either way, it's entertaining, and there aren't any of the usual anime-only filler issues of not feeling like they fit the show's writing and characterization, though G8 also honestly does a great job. Of the two, G8 honestly stands out as more memorable to me, despite some fun moments in the Davy Back Fights (like the finale). Both good. But both filler-- just different kinds of it. ...do kinda feel like the legend of Condoriano would be better worth the watch than the Foxy stuff, though, tbh. And I tell people as much when telling them how to skip fillers when catching up with One Piece.

But you don't need to see it to continue the plot the next arc could also be skipped and not be relevant to the plot, but it is not filler it is part of the manga. People just like to call it filler because it is not relevant to the overall plot like Skypeia was. But I like the Foxy arc because it was just silly fun.
