I don't want to go in to spoiler, so I can't list more specific points from the manga, but there are more examples of other characters using the 'Starringan' besides the twins and Ai. So it's not a genetic trait or a contact lens thing. And I felt it was safe to bring that up now that Akane has been shown with the star eyes as well. I didn't share who or when so I feel I have kept this spoiler free. But Oprah isn't handing our star eyes either. They are still rare in the series.

2023-06-07 18:17:08 +0000 UTCThis is just my theory and nothing is confirmed even in the manga so it's still just speculation. But I think the stars in the eyes represent lies. So long as you are telling lies you have the stars, and the darker the lie the darker the eyes. But when you are being truthful the stars brighten. The twins big lie is that they are reincarnated. Ai was full of lies. And when Akane was pretending to be Ai who was an embodiment of lies she took on the starry eyes. That's just my theory though. I may just be grasping at nothing.
