Tanuki, aka Japanese raccoon dogs, are a kind of animal only found in Japan that is related to the kind of raccoon commonly seen in North America. They are very important in Japanese folklore, much like foxes/kitsune. Also often times in anime if a character resembles any kind of animal, they'll often be referred to as such, hence here with Yuzuriha calling Senta a raccoon dog all the time. It looks awkward in the subs with them translating it as "raccoon dog" instead of just keeping it as tanuki.
