2023-11-12 13:02:53 +0000 UTCThere was a movie filler in between before this arc (The Giant Mechanical Soldier of Karakuri Castle) when something pressed on him from above and accidentally pumped his feet triggering 2nd gear. and after seeing the steam engine he probably finally put it all together into a new move. but some people say it doesn't count so whatever, it just makes more sense if you see all the episodes/movies without skipping filler

More about how it works should also be mentioned later, but it's just really cool how Luffy is doing what he's always done: creating techniques based on his environment, and the things he's seen and done. Sometimes, yes, they're silly and might seem completely stupid or pointless to the rest of us. But he tries EVERYTHING. Which is how we get amazing moments like this. Seeing Blueno get absolutely WORKED just never gets old-- even hundreds of episodes later, that moment of Luffy being like "that's no good. This isn't enough" is just... too good. And the "fight" itself just... aaaagh!! This damn show is too fucking great at this shiz! Like, we all hate when One Piece has its glacial pacing, but DAMN does it ever feel worth it when we get to have moments like these. Anyway. Done fangirling, lol. But yes, this is Enies Lobby-- the arc basically started when they left Water 7. Can already see some of why this arc's a big fan favorite, and these reactions have been fantastic from the first, so it's always a blast to reach moments like these!
