yep, i'm not current with the manga as of right now (put it on hold for the past 2 months just getting frustrated at it) and you hit the nail on the head here. wont go into spoiler territory ofc, but it's such a difficult read with how frustrating our protagonist is. Chizuru is trapped in this series and she needs to be freed

Apparently this is the best arc for a long time and it feels like we're making progress. If after this, all that comes is bullshit then I wish the anime could just decide to cut it short here after 3 seasons and be done with it in a satisfying way. The problem is of course that this anime seems to be popular enough to literally get a 3rd season one year after the second so I don't have too much hope for anything of that sort, since they probably wanna milk the anime just as much as the manga
