I just read a few days ago, the part when rudy met you know who in volume 15. it was especially impactful as it was the middle of the night when I was reading it, same time the scene was taking place. I could see it happening in my mind's eye

2023-09-04 15:33:42 +0000 UTCBased on what you were saying, it does sound like you have some form of an anxiety disorder. One of the big signs/symptoms of anxiety disorders is the habit of biting the skin around your nail beds (fyi, the cuticle is just the thin, semi-transparent skin that actually overlaps the nail proper). This is a habit that typically forms off of the habit of biting your nails. A person with anxiety ends up biting off all of their nails, and with nothing left to bite off, they move on to the skin around those nails instead. Some people end up completely dropping the nail biting habit in favor of the skin biting habit because skin grows back quicker and is softer and easier to remove. I myself am diagnosed with, as the psychiatrist phrased it, a “major social anxiety disorder”, and this is one of the big habits that I still have even after several years of therapy. There are different kinds of anxiety, of course, and I’m sure most of them have a specific treatment plan or drug you could take to help. But generally speaking, any GOOD psychiatrist is going to recommend behavioral therapy is tried BEFORE any medications are considered as treatment. I was never, and still haven’t been, prescribed any kind of drugs as a treatment. I’m no longer in therapy, but what I gained from that therapy was coping skills and mechanisms to help me manage my anxiety in a healthier fashion, and I’m able to actually live a decent life now despite how crippling my anxiety used to be. It was literally so bad that I spent several years living in a constant, near never-ending state of “panic attack”, and it had become so normal for me that I couldn’t even recognize that I was having panic attacks anymore. My resting heart rate during those years was literally around 115-125bpm, which as most people should know, is NOT resting at all. But that’s how panicked I was all the time due to my disorder. Now, I CAN recognize when I’m panicking, even before it gets to that high-level stage of “panic attack”, and I’m able to manage it well enough that I’m working a job in the food service industry, which is pretty much just constant social interactions. My resting heart rate averages at 80bpm now, which is considered normal. It sounds like you have your anxiety pretty under control, but if you ever feel like you need a little extra help, don’t hesitate to try behavioral therapy! It really does work! And for anyone other than Joe who’s reading this, if you’re suffering from an anxiety disorder yourself, it does get better! I’m living proof that things can and will get better if you put in the effort to help yourself. 🙃

No wonder she is so excited when confirmed Rudy speaks Japanese. Being alone in an unknown world, not aging at all and no mana, may easily die in any fight, can't see friends and family again... that sucks. The scene transaction for Sylphie who didn't understand Japanese is also pretty good and easy to understand.

And Shizuka, her first name, can be translated as "Silence", depending on the Kanji being used. Hope that helps with understanding where her badass alias came from.

2023-09-03 22:41:03 +0000 UTCI just started a rewatch a few weeks ago so it's fresh in my mind, but on ep 1 one of the two guys who were with Nanahoshi is with the police/paramedics after the accident and they mentioned they think 2 other students were probably hit but are missing, so unless they're shit at search & rescue i think only 1 of the dudes + Nanahoshi were teleported to that world so they couldn't be in a coma or something. I still think it's weird how Rudeus was reincarnated 10 or so years before Nanahoshi was teleported though, can't wait to find out WTF really happened.

I also believe that time is everywhere with them. Its quite possible that the other two weren't even brought into this world at either of their (Rudy and Nanahoshi's) times.

If they passed away in the same accident , then why did Rudy spend 3x more in this world and she only got here 5 years ago? IF they are in a come it makes even less sense because that'd mean they spent years in a coma and then out of nowhere someone summoned them Some type of time travel shit must play in the difference of their way of getting to that world
