Shirou finding out about Kiritsugu probably wouldn't change anything. It seems you've forgotten the reason why the whole incident happen in Zero, but Kiritsugu actually did the right thing in the end and that's what ended up causing the fire. He of course did not know that it would result in the fire, but he did what had to be done

It's a nod to Cú Chulainn's legend where he continued to fight for 7 days after being killed by tying himself upright using his own intestines lmao. He's essentially Irish Hercules.
