Here is the actual proper order if you dont want to get confused .(Kizumonogatari, Nekomonogatari, Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari, Monogatari Series Second Season, Owarimonogatari, Owarimonogatari Second Season, Tsukimonogatari, Hanamonogatari) Then you can watch these in any order (Zoku Owarimonogatari, Koyomonogatari, Koyomi History,)

Mongoatar is in my top 10 anime of all time. Also this may help you but the season's aren't always in chronological order so if you don't understand something going on now chances are they'll be explored thoroguhly and on their own at a later point in time.

2023-09-10 20:37:13 +0000 UTCThe monogatari series is THE dialogue series. So many things are told, referenced, foreshadowed, etc in the dialogue. Also puns and wordplay are everywhere. But it is absolutely worth watching for the storytelling that it provides through the whole series.

2023-09-10 16:18:02 +0000 UTCIf you're watching Monogatari, you're in for a wild ride. Be prepared for a lot of weirdness haha. It's personally one of my favorite pieces of fiction ever produced but it can be very hard to get into. As you should have already noticed by watching these first 2 episodes, Monogatari does a lot of Japanese word play and in general focuses on the japanese language and culture a lot. It's okay if these things sometimes fly over your head, just try and understand the general gist and you should be good. Regarding whether people watch this dubbed: There is no english dub for this series, my guess would be it's probably because of how incredibly hard it is to translate in the first place, and once you try going for actually localizing it, it's literally an impossible task. The series has a lot of banter between characters which for me is a very strong point of the series. The second episode's first half should give you a good idea of what that banter looks like and while it may seem kind of intimidating to you now, I'm sure you'll get used to it. Personally, regarding the openings, I would prefer if you don't skip them in the future. Especially in Bakemonogatari, they only show up for around 3 episodes at a time anyway, and both the lyrics and the visuals can have a lot of meaning which can unravel as you watch each episode. Meaning of the series name: Monogatari just means "Story" or "Tale". So all the different parts of the series are always "Something-Story". Bakemonogatari is a fusion of the words Bakemono (meaning Monster, Ghost, etc.) and Monogatari, so translating it, you'd end up with something like "Monstory" or "Ghostory" (Oh also, no, Mononogatari has nothing to do with Monogatari)
