Frieren Ep. 1 Reaction [FULL]

yeah it made me cry...

Frieren Ep. 1 Reaction [FULL]

I don't think the Priest even cares about the whole "Immortality Spell" thing. I think He's playing Frieren to get her to stay and train the little girl. I feel like he knew it would take her years to de-cypher it. He strikes me as a schemer... but in a wholesome way.

Meh, it's neither being strong or weak, it's just about what kind of person you are. I personally don't mind crying if I'm watching something sad

axilir21

Its the Fact what word is used ... I mean Eis or Frost but frieren? Hey freezing how are u? ...

Karsten Hase

I have heard stranger contexts than a word being used as a name.

Virtuous_Wanderer

people have been dogging the song and I like it 🤷‍♂️

JoeFreshest

idk why people expect me to remember anything.

JoeFreshest

yeah, im just super strong

JoeFreshest

MY BAD! sheesh

JoeFreshest

why are Anime and Manga creators so into the strange use of german words in more then unnatural ways ...

Karsten Hase

he already uploaded all 4 episodes that are currently out

NinoDonDino

about Frieren, it could also mean, she is frozen in time, from what I've seen in the four episodes released.

"Only listened to one other Yoasobi song, and that's from Oshi no Ko": my man forgot he watched Witch from Mercury. lol i kid but it was pretty funny.

VGGuy95

I would rather see it as being strong enough to cry. Us guys are generally taught that crying and emotions are a weakness, unless its rage. Violent rage is always fine, it seems.

Pastafarian Devil

Brother says he's only heard one Yoasobi song, Was Witch From Mercury s1 a joke to you brother?

Coping McCoperson

Hello friend when upload other episodes?

Coping McCoperson

After watching first four episodes, it feels like the rhyme of the OP song doesn't fit the narrative of this anime, albeit the song itself is good.

Man, Evan Call's doing the music? Hell Yeah! (Same guy that composed music for Violet Evergarden)

Hmm.. this definitely fills the void that Mushoku Tensei left behind. The entire episode deals with a lot of heavy existential topics about one's mortality from the perspective of long life species such as elves... something that's not really touched upon much by other fantasy animes. I already had my eyes set on a few shows this season but this one went under the radar for me. It's now added to my list.

I first read the manga earlier this year, just before my 65th birthday, and the sadness and pain really hit hard. I've lost friends and family over the years, and last year I lost my brother (he was 86). Given how faithful they've been to the first part of the manga, this will be my main anime this season, no question.

Andrew Diseker

oh i forgot this came out today. i heard great things about this from mushoku tensei fans so im hyped

A few German words in this one, I guess some could have a deeper meaning or be just something that fits. So we have: Frieren = Freeze, could make sense since you could say that Frieren is a bit cold towards others, because in her 10 year adventure she didn't really bond with the others. Himmel = Sky, he had the Blue hair that resembles and before he died he looked into the sky for the Meteor Shower. Eisen = Iron, he is a Dwarf so Iron i guess just fits a Dwarf. Heiter = serene/cheerful, I guess serene would fit his Character as a Priest. And then there was "The City of Strahl" and Strahl = Ray Episode wise, in a Discord server I am in I've seen a few people talk highly about it, since they read the Manga. I am more of a Anime watcher so this is my first experience with it. Quality/Animation wise it's pretty good, but so far I wasn't hyped for it and with Ep1 I am not hooked. I will watch it a bit more, but this might be a show that is just not really for me. But the whole "Living a long live and see people die" thing reminds me of The Green Mile. But like Joe said, I also think it's weird that she is like "I didn't really know anything about Himmel" and right after that she is like "Bye" to Heiter and Eisen. Which seems weird that she doesn't even try to maybe get to know those 2 more... like once those 2 die... will she cry again and be like "I didn't know anything about them". But yeah, will see how it continues.

From what I've seen and a heap of speculation, either himmel was a lot older than he looked or that dragon horn wasn't the healtiest thing to keep around, emitting evil aura in his bed room for 50 years. Which might be why he was an old man and the priest barely had wrinkles. Or it's just holy magic or something.

Amat

Great first episode. Very loyal to the manga. Great real talk from you Joe!

Jesse Miller

I think the ed is generally getting better responses. Don’t get me wrong, both are awesome. But I personally like the ed better as well

Goradox

The thing is she probably still can't shake the sheer difference in how time effects her to others, she says she wishes she got to know him but continued her journey probably thinking she still had time to do so, its like to her 20 years could feel like maybe 1 or 2 she can't comprehend the difference. A reason why living a super long life could be seen as a curse
