The RA Volume VII: Behind Closed Doors

I wrote another book! We return to Lakeview after New Year's, in time for winter training, Spencer's final week thereof before his impending graduation in May. He returns with hopes to rekindle things with Savannah, and/or to kick it up a notch in a romp with his "slave girls" (their words) Shauna and Ramona. Only, big shock, things don't go as planned. Our cover for this installment features the Higgins 4 RA Janis Brown enjoying some juice over breakfast, like ya do.

I won't bore you with details on other stuff here, but there will be details on Patreon tier changes coming soon. For now, go read. More to come.

The RA Volume VII: Behind Closed Doors

Comments

I doubt after how things end here if Spencer will make another attempt at sitting her down for some redemption talk/sex. However, I was talking with somebody on discord the other day about it, and thinking that it wouldn't surprise me if Janis goes the route of Jordan from TIOS and gets her share of AU What-If stories. Never say never.

Part of me hopes this isn't the last we see of her. I really want Spencer to abuse the Spencer Effect to rewrite her to be the bestest person ever.

As always, a new volume of The RA is a gift whose welcomeness is on par with its potential for emotional trauma. Which is to say, Janis. It's a bleak volume in places -- the middle section, where Spencer's lack of a normal support system sees him at his most vulnerable and self-sabotaging -- but it's the first volume to my memory that makes the end of the school year feel soothingly distant. We've got a book that'd be a prologue in any another series, but the exceptional writing and deep cast allow for a more spacious exploration of Spencer's various squicks and kinks than you'd normally see. We can have a whole book just about the various RAs, with barely a Hottie or a Haven to concern itself. I liked this one a bunch, because I like how easily this series' premise can vary its vibe. After a few non-sequential volumes that peel away Spencer for a closer look at the Hotties, we can *also* do a volume that peels away the Hotties for a closer look at Spencer, without losing any of the trademark potency or absurdity. There's no real core to the series that could create an absence, beyond the kind of emotional quantum entanglement that connects our cast no matter how many of them show up; this series is all about community, and a community doesn't need a roll call to make it constant. Anyway, this book is great, and I can't wait to see what sort of discussion it engenders on the Discord!

This is the first I'm hearing about things not going as planned for Spencer!!!
