Thousand tricks is a dumbass translation as the original meaning of the word used is something like ever changing. It hints to people constantly mistaking how he is a mastermind and nobody can guess what his thoughts are. And everything goes according to the plan when in fact he is pretty fucking vacant minded. I dont know if this could be considered a spoiler? Trying to keep the explanation as simple as possible to correct a translation error.
